Lady Gaga is ‘obsessed’ with Versace

The American songstress is famed for her eccentric fashion choices and often sports unconventional attire.

The 24-year-old star recently accepted the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s (CFDA) prestigious fashion icon award, cementing her place as a fully-fledged fashionista.

The eccentric singer, who has walked on the catwalk for Thierry Mugler, says her latest look is a tribute to Gianni Versace, who was murdered in 1997.

“Right now I’m having an obsession with Versace. I’m so Italian, I worship him,’ she said in an interview with a British television show.

Gaga is grateful to Gianni’s sister, Donatella Versace, for making the star’s fashion accessible. The 56-year-old Italian designer is currently Vice President of the Versace group and well as chief designer, taking over after her brother died.

‘Donatella has opened the archives for the first time since Gianni’s death,’ she said.

Ashton Kutcher, on the LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN

Fr 5/21: Ashton Kutcher, Larry Miller, Michael Ammar, Brooks & Dunn with Reba McEntire on the LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN, CBS . Ashton Kutcher: Having acquired legions of loyal female followers with his portrayal of the ever-horny and dimwitted Kelso in the popular television comedy series That 70s Show, it may come as a surprise that male model-turned-actor Ashton Kutcher ironically majored in biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa before his “discovery” in an Iowa bar and subsequent stint on the catwalk for such fashion industry luminaries as Versace and Calvin Klein. Born in Cedar Rapids, IA, along with a fraternal twin named Michael, Kutcher was bitten by the acting bug in high school. Balancing his love for the stage with his talent for wrestling before gravitating toward the former in such high school productions as +Annie, Kutcher worked numerous odd jobs during his tenure at the University of Iowa before winning the Fresh Faces of Iowa contest in 1997 and heading for New York. Competing in that same year’s International Model and Talent Agency competition before being signed to the next agency, Kutcher relocated to Los Angeles the following year and soon landed his breakthrough role on That 70s Show. Though he had small roles in Down to You and Reindeer Games (both 2000), Kutcher’s first major big-screen role was in Dude, Where’s My Car? (also 2000), in which he teamed his airheaded goofiness with that of American Pie’s Sean William Scott.  Breaking out of the mold with a more serious turn alongside James Van Der Beek in 2001′s Texas Rangers, a return to comedy wasn’t far behind with a role in My Boss’s Daughter scheduled for release later that same year. Though My Boss’s Daughter would ultimately be pushed back to a late February 2003 release date, Kutcher and actress Brittany Murphy (8 Mile) scored a modest hit when Just Married was released into theaters in early January of the same year. Despite receiving only a lukewarm reception from critics, positive audience turnout ensured that Just Married would nevertheless hold on to a position in the box office top-ten for nearly a month after its release. Though My Boss’s Daughter failed to stir up much at the box-office, the one-two punch of his immensely popular MTV prank show Punk’d and a high-profile romance with Demi Moore shot Kutcher’s celebrity stock through the roof in 2003. He subsequently closed out the year with a self-depricating role in the holiday hit Cheaper by the Dozen. 2004 saw Kutcher trying his hand at drama once again with the supernatural thriller The Butterfly Effect. Though the reviews were mixed, the film had its share of fans among critics and went on to makeup its budget more than three-times over. Kutcher continued finding success on the small-screen by producing the series Beauty and the Geek. In 2005 he teamed with Bernie Mac for the racial comedy Guess Who, but audiences and critics ignored his romantic comedy A Lot Like Love with Amada Peet. 2006 found Kutcher trying his hand at more action oriented fare teaming up with Kevin Costner for The Guardian, and lending his voice to the animated film Open Season along with Martin Lawrence.

Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears Auction Off Herve Leger, Versace To Benefit Haiti Relief. Miley Cyrus assembled some of her superstar pals to donate for an eBay auction benefitting American Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti. Among her friends who gave up items for auction include Demi Lovato, Hugh Jackman, and Britney Spears. Cyrus herself put up the Herve Leger mini dress she recently wore to the Grammy Awards, where she was named among the best dressed by some and others said the short cut out dress may have been too provocative for the teen star. She also put up tickets to the premiere of her upcoming movie, “The Last Song,” which will take place in March. Demi Lovato donated two signed tour outfits. One, a hot pink Ina Soltani dress which Lovato has worn on stage. The other is a white leather studded vest which Lovato has also worn during her tour.   Nicole Richie is auctioning off pieces from her House of Harlow jewelry line, including gold bangles and a feather necklace. Joel Madden of Good Charlotte is also donating t-shirts, fedoras, and sunglasses to the cause.  With over 9 days left in the auction, the item donated by Britney Spears currently has the highest asking price. The custom silver Versace dress she wore to the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, where she opened the show and picked up three awards for her “Piece of Me” video, is currently at $2,000

Celebrities Sport Ready To Wear Fashions At This Year’s Grammy Awards

The celebrities at this year’s Grammy Awards all had one thing in common: ready-to-wear. They nearly all modeled ready-to-wear fashions from some of the biggest designer’s collections, including Versace, Zac Posen, and Emilio Pucci.  Black Eyed Peas member Fergie hit the stage to perform with the group and sported a futuristic-looking visor, which has yielded love-it-and-hate-it comments. But on the red carpet, she wore the bright royal blue mini-dress from Pucci’s Spring 2010 collection, complete with a metallic streak. Jennifer Lopez sported the mini-dress gown hybrid from Versace’s Spring 2010 collection. She also looked she was sporting shoes from Christian Louboutin, who she name-drops ad nauseum in her latest single.  Katy Perry wore the floor length, flesh toned gown from Zac Posen’s Spring 2010 collection. The dress contains gold metal flower detailing as well. Miley Cyrus wore a dress from Herve Leger by Max Azria, who she collaborates with on her own Wal-Mart line.  Some celebrities also wore ready-to-wear but with some modifications to their liking. Britney Spears wore an embellished sheer dress over a black leotard from Dolce & Gabbana from their 2010 collection, while Mary J. Blige rendered a dress from from Gucci’s Spring 2010 collection nearly unrecognizable in its new fuchsia floor-length form

Italian fashionistas furious over the 73-year-old Berlusconi link

LIFE-US-ITALY-FASHION-BERLUSCONIItalian fashionistas on Wednesday hit back at foreign media reports that their latest creations were for “bimbos” inspired by the sex scandals surrounding Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s private life.  In reviews of Milan’s spring/summer 2010 womenswear fashion shows on Monday, the Financial Times and International Herald Tribune had linked the abundance of short and sexy dresses this past week to the 73-year-old prime minister.  Berlusconi has been hit by a spate of scandals surrounding his private life in recent months, including allegations that a businessman paid women to sleep with him. His wife announced in May that she wanted a divorce because of his womanizing. “I was very surprised .. I did not expect this judgment. I find it without motive, unjustified,” Mario Boselli, chairman of Italy’s national chamber of fashion, told Reuters. “I saw at least 50 shows … certainly I did not see that what was written and I believe that this fashion week was dominated by balance and great elegance, certainly nothing vulgar and uselessly provocative.”  Italy’s fashion capital is known for top names such as Giorgio Continue reading →
