Tiesto is looking for “developing artists” for his new label. The dance music legend – voted the world’s number one DJ three times consecutively by DJ magazine and Best DJ of All Time by Mixmag- has recently branched out into his own record label, ‘Musical Freedom’, and is hoping to start “fresh” and sign new artists.

He said: “I wanted a fresh new series to reflect my new style which has been evolving in the clubs for the past few years. It feels great to launch my own series on my new label.

“I want to be able to sign artists and release music that as a fan I would listen to. Musical Freedom allows me to do this and hopefully help out some new and exciting developing artists along the way.”

The superstar DJ’s first release on the label is his own mix, ‘Club Life – Volume One Las Vegas’, which features tracks by Kaskade, Diplo, Hardwell, Marcel Woods and Tiesto himself.

‘Club Life – Volume One Las Vegas’ is released in April, while Tiesto’s club life world tour is presently underway.

Pendulum release new single

Pendulum release new single.

Pendulum release new single.

Pendulum’s hectic summer schedule has already included a hugely diverse range of major festival appearances such as Radio 1′s Big Weekend, Sonisphere and major outdoor shows with The Prodigy and Tiesto. They will follow their imminent NME / Radio 1 Stage headlining sets at the Reading and Leeds festivals with the release of the new single ‘The Island’ on September 20th on Earstorm / Warner Bros. Records. In keeping with ‘The Island’ theme, Pendulum will embark upon a whistlestop Balearic Islands tour in September. Supported by Sub Focus, Pendulum will play the inaugural Majorca Rocks on September 6th before returning for one of their now infamous Ibiza Rocks shows the following day. The sprawling two-part, nine-minute centrepiece of their #1 album ‘Immersion’, ‘The Island’ flows from its atmospheric, cinematic introduction into a visceral attack of grinding beats and venomous synths. ‘The Island’ also represents an invigorating example of their prog & bass sound that has emerged from the band’s constant desire to expand their musical palette. The single’s full nine-minute version will be released as an exclusive iTunes bundle, while a radio edit will also be available as well as a DJ edit of ‘Part II’. Remixes come courtesy of Tiesto and Dutch drum & bass producer Lenzman. The CD version will include the remixes, the original and radio edit. Pendulum second major live experience in the UK this year follows their sold-out tour in May that included a landmark show at London’s Wembley Arena. The ‘Immersion’ tour, scheduled as below, sees Pendulum playing bigger dates than ever before and features special guests Hadouken!

Tiësto has found the sunrise!

Tiësto names new remix album. The search for sunrise is over…Tiësto has found the sunrise! He announces new mix album series ‘A New Dawn’ on his new label, Musical Freedom!   Tiësto announced his new mix album series today, to be entitled ‘A New Dawn’. Following his decision to part ways with Black Hole Recordings last year, Tiësto wanted to make a fresh start with his new wholly owned label, Musical Freedom and continue to innovate in an area in which he has been the clear leader for many years. Tiësto’s now famous In Search Of Sunrise series, concluded with ISOS 7 – Asia in 2008. The series has been extremely succesful worldwide and has since become the benchmark for DJ mix albums globally. As fans and the industry have been speculating about when the next ISOS would be released, Tiësto felt it was necessary to make a statement about his intentions and clarify the situation: “Having taken the ISOS series as far as I could, I felt it was time to leave the past behind and come with something fresh and new. ISOS was an incredible journey for me, but as my music taste evolved, I wanted my DJ mix compilation to evolve with it. Black Hole plans to release another ISOS album, but to be very clear, I will not be involved in any way. I sold my part of the company to Arny Bink and have no involvement or benefits of Black Hole Recordings.   The mix album has always been a very important part of my artistic expression as a DJ and I wanted to come with something really special that pushes the boundaries once again for what this format can be. We’re moving into a new era in terms of how music is released and I want to look at exciting new ways to express what I do and connect with my fans. I am very happy to let everyone know that the title of this mix album will be ‘A New Dawn’, a name that means so much to me personally and signifies so many things in so many ways. It’s been an awakening in more ways than one! These past two years, I have been on a musical journey of discovery, culminating in my album and world tour with Kaleidoscope. Now with ‘A New Dawn’ I look forward to continuing that process, showcasing some amazing cutting edge electronic music from myself and others. As I continue to explore and develop as an artist and DJ, I am constantly inspired by those around me and the other artists I meet. I can’t wait to share it with the world!”

Coachella 2010: Acts you don’t want to miss

Some things about Coachella are obvious.

Some things about Coachella are obvious.

Some things about Coachella are obvious. The headliners deliver, and this year they’re particularly pro: rap’s Warren Buffett, Jay-Z, and stadium rock saviors Muse, pictured, plus the multimedia blitz of Gorillaz. The bill’s middle is packed with great stuff that you will miss because you’re standing in line to recycle your water bottles. One night, you will happen upon a mostly empty tent and from it will pour music that changes your life. As for specifics, here are all on this year’s thick lineup that I wouldn’t miss.

And here it is:The lineup this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Sunny Day Real Estate

Sunny Day Real Estate

The lineup is out for this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The event, held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, is scheduled for April 16-18.  Every year, music fans all over the country wait to find out who will be listed on the festival’s lineup. And here it is:

•Friday : Jay-Z / LCD Soundsystem / Them Crooked Vultures / Vampire Weekend / PiL / Grizzly Bear / Echo and the Bunnymen.
•Saturday : Muse / Faith No More / MGMT / the Dead Weather / Devo / the Xx / Tiesto
•Sunday: Gorillaz / Pavement / Thom Yorke / Phoenix / Spoon / De La Soul / Sly and the Family Stone / Sunny Day Real Estate

A three-day pass runs $269, and starting this year, festivalgoers can buy tickets through a layaway program. For more information on the lineup, ticket information, hotels, directions — you name it — visit the festival’s website. My head just exploded. Goldenvoice has finally revealed the Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival offical lineup for their 2010 edition. The lineup is usually announced this time of year, on or around the MLK, Jr. Day holiday, and it comes 87 days before the festival kicks off on Friday, April 16 in Indio, California. Muse was an early rumored headliner, as well as Pavement, due to their recently announced reunion. Well, Muse has been pegged to headline for Saturday — as I predicted — and Jay-Z and Gorillaz are set to head line Friday and Sunday, respectively, with Gorillaz sneaking away that last headline spot from Pavement (most likely due to their over-the-top visuals, which Coachella loves). The rest of the lineup is classic Coachella — plenty of DJs and electro/house acts, the best indie rock bands and an eclectic mix of some older bands, Sly and the Family Stone, for instance. However, there are a few bands playing the 3-day festival that shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise, especially if you are a loyal Up on The Sun reader. My theories on both Yeasayer and Beach House have been confirmed. Yeasayer will have a Friday slot, with Beach House holding down a spot on Sunday. Both bands had tours coming through the Southwest/California around the time of Coachella and both had Los Angeles dates absent from that particular part of their respective tours. Now, it wasn’t rocket science to see this happening, but it took a little intiution to clearly see that — based on their reputation and talents — that Coachella would invite them along. That, or the bands already knew they were playing the festival and simply couldn’t reveal that information until the lineup was officially announced. The 2010 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival will take place April 16-18 at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California. Tickets are $269 for a 3-day pass and will be on sale this Friday, 1/22, at 10 AM PST through Ticketmaster. For more information on all things Coachella, head to the festival’s official website. See you there.
