“The Tourist,” “Narnia” Disappoint At The Box Office. The much-publicized Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp powerhouse “The Tourist” failed to shake the box office in its weekend debut. It disappointing landed at second place next to the also disappointing “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.”
The thriller flick only took $17 million during the local three-day weekend, which is very low by the two main moneymaking stars’ standards. And while the latest installment of “Narnia” debuted at first place, its $24.5 million take was considered a letdown. Its predecessor, “Prince Caspian,” took $55 million in 2008.Last week’s top spot takers, “Tangled” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1,” are now in third and fourth places, while “Megamind” concludes the weekend’s top 10.
