System Of A Down confirm reunion. Following the surreptitious leaking of a gig in Paris, System Of A Down confirm reunion shows. At the end of last month a French radio station claimed that there would be a show in Paris for the band. Now the band themselves have confirmed ten shows across Europe in 2011. The band posted on their website: ‘Hello All, We are excited to announce that System will be playing some dates together in 2011. ‘We also want to thank you for your loyalty and support, not only to System Of A Down, but to all of our solo efforts as well. We have no master plan of sorts – we are playing these shows simply because we want to play together again as a band and for you, our amazing fans. We look forward to seeing all of you!’ The tour dates on their website are for June, where they’ll play Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, the UK, Sweden, Austria and Finland.

Mando Diao rank as one of Sweden’s most successful musical exports ever; working class heroes with guitars that have blazed their way out of their hom= e country’s snow-covered industrial hinterland to a worldwide audience. They’ve preached their blue-eyed garage-soul gospel everywhere from the Conan O’Brian show on network TV in New York to a headline slot at the groundbreaking Beijing Pop Festival in 2007. Having sold over a million records international (multiple gold albums in Sweden, Germany and Japan) Mando’s newest work sees them take the garage rock template they created in a basement in Borlenge, Sweden and refine it to a cinematic new height. Playing over 150 gigs a year Mando Diao honed their live show to one of the greatest garage-soul shows on earth. UK album ‘Give Me Fire!’ is released on Monday 5th October, single ‘Dance With Somebody’ is out on Monday 21st September.

Greece, represented by heart-throb pop star Sakis Rouvas, was among the last 10 countries chosen as finalists in the second semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 early Friday morning. The 10 countries to qualify were Azerbaijan, Croatia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Albania, Moldova, Denmark, Estonia, Norway and Greece after voting by television viewers and juries across Europe. All 25 countries that will participate in Saturdays final are now known, setting up a showdown to determine who will take the crown in the annual extravaganza of music and camp being hosted by Russia this year. The other 15 finalists are Turkey, Sweden, Israel, Portugal, Malta, Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Armenia, Iceland, Russia, France, Germany, Britain and Spain. The countries eliminated in the second semifinal were Ireland, Latvia, Serbia, Poland, Cyprus, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary and the Netherlands.
Taking time off from the Cardigans, Nina Persson began recording material which found a few admirers. With her band members taking time off, Persson recruited Niclas Frisk to flesh out the material. Now set to release their second album in 2009, A Camp have earned a cult reputation all of their own. A Camp first drew breath in a forest in Northern Sweden, neck deep in snow, in the waning of the last millennium, amongst families of foxes. It began a collaborative effort between two Swedish humans: pop star and former figure skater Nina Persson, whose band The Cardigans had seen crazy success in the roaring 90s, and Niclas Frisk, an outdoorsman and explorer who had himself enjoyed pop stardom with his band Atomic Swing.
In common was a love for classic American music, and a melancholy both universal and somehow highly specific to the Scandinavian psyche.
Taken from their second album Colonia, A Camp are releasing second single “Love Has Left The Room” on May 4th.
A Camp will also be touring the UK in April and May.
