Taylor Swift was named Entertainer of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards 2011 in Las Vegas. Taylor won the biggest honour and also performed at the event, while singer Miranda Lambert was the night’s biggest winner, taking home four trophies including Top Female Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year and Single Record of the Year for her track ‘The House That Built Me’.
Accepting her award, Taylor said: “This is the first time that I’ve ever won this and I’m just losing my mind. The fact that this is from the fans makes it so special.”
The night also featured guest performances by Rihanna, who sang her new track ‘California King Bed’ with Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, and Steven Tyler, who performed with Carrie Underwood on a duet which saw them take on the latter’s ‘Undo It’ before breaking into Aerosmith’s ‘Walk This Way’.
Lady Antebellum took home two awards, Album of the Year for ‘Need You Now’, Top Vocal Group of the Year while singer and guitarist Brad Paisley was named top male vocalist for the fifth consecutive year.

Nancy And Ann Wilson Of Heart, Snooki Added To “VH1 Divas Salute The Troops” Line-Up. “VH1 Divas Salute the Troops” is going to have even more Heart. The special, which sees female-fronted acts performing for the troops, has added Nancy and Ann Wilson of Heart to the line-up, plus appearances by Brandy and Snooki. Nancy and Ann Wilson of Heart are set to perform with Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, who will perform at San Diego’s Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. They’ll join previously announced performers Katy Perry, Keri Hilson, Sugarland, and Nicki Minaj. Paramore, fronted by “Airplanes” singer Hayley Williams, will head to an undisclosed military base in the Middle East to visit with the Marines, soldiers, airmen, and more. Comedian Jeffrey Ross has been added to the line-up as well, while Brandy, supermodel Marisa Miller, and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino from “Jersey Shore” will present. For the first time, VH1 has partnered with the USO to bring the iconic event, which has boasted performances from Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Aretha Franklin, and Celine Dion in the past, and the girls to the troops and their families. “VH1 Divas Salute the Troops,” hosted by Kathy Griffin, will premiere Sunday, December 5th at 9pm ET/PT on VH1.
Miranda Lambert Celebrates 27th Birthday With 4 Wins At The CMA Awards. The CMA Awards has given Miranda Lambert not one, but four really cool gifts for her 27th birthday on Wednesday. The songstress took home Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Video of the Year at the 44th Annual Country Music Association Awards. Lambert’s single “The House That Built Me” was honored for both Song and Video of the Year at the “Country Music’s Biggest Night,” while her “Revolution” took the top prize of Album of the Year. She said upon accepting the Female Vocalist honor from country music legend Loretta Lynn, “The woman that paved the way for all females ever in country music is standing here beside me and handed me this award… I’m going to keep going for the other women in this industry.” It’s not only her night. Her fiancé Blake Shelton also won a major trophy that night, winning Male Vocalist of the Year. His “Hillbilly Bone,” featuring Trace Adkins, also won Musical Event of the Year. Brad Paisley, who co-hosted the show along with Carrie Underwood at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, was named Entertainer of the Year for the first time. He was Male Vocalist for the past three consecutive years. And based on the blogsphere review, Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t suck in her country music debut at the show. CMA Awards Sells Out Tickets. The event dubbed as “Country Music’s Biggest Night” is sold out. For the second year in a row, the “44th Annual CMA Awards,” to be held on November 10, has sold all of its available tickets for the public. The show promises performances by some of country’s biggest superstars, including Dierks Bentley, Kenny Chesney, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts, Reba, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban. Also performing is Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Taylor, who is set to make her live Country Music singing debut with Vince Gill. A tribute to Loretta Lynn’s 50th anniversary as a recording artist will be spearheaded by Lambert and Sheryl Crow. Also, Jason Aldean will be performing with “American Idol” champ Kelly Clarkson, while the Zac Brown Band will take the stage with Alan Jackson. Sugarland To Release New Album “The Incredible Machine” In October. Sugarland is back with their highly-anticipated fourth album, “The Incredible Machine.” Due October 19th, the Grammy, CMA, AMA award-winning duo of Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush are also set to release a first single Nettles calls “Sugar-fun.” “Stuck Like Glue,” a track written by Nettles and Bush along with Kevin Griffin and Shy Carter, will lead off the album. It’s set to hit radio on July 26th . “‘Stuck Like Glue’ is just plain, unashamed, Sugar-fun!” said Nettles in a statement. “It sticks in your brain, no pun intended.
