Shaun White, Ryan Sheckler to Compete in Skateboard Event at TD Garden in June

Two-time snowboarding Olympic gold medalist Shaun White is taking his act to Boston.  Also known as “The Flying Tomato,” White will compete at the Dew Tour’s Skate Open from June 25-26 at the TD Garden. White owns several X Games medals in skateboarding and plans to compete in the skate vert event at the Skate Open. “Winning my second gold medal at the Olympics was unbelievable, and I’m excited to get back to skateboarding,” White said in a press release from Alli, the Alliance of Action Sports, which is promoting the event. “After taking a year off, the Dew Tour’s Skate Open is the perfect place for me to kick off my summer of skating.” Other skateboarders competing in the event include Bob Burnquist, Bucky Lasek, Ryan Sheckler, Paul Rodriguez, and Andy Macdonald, who grew up in Boston. Tickets for the event went on sale Monday.

Team Jacob And Bella A Clear Favorite At The Kids’ Choice Awards.   Team Jacob rules with kids! Edward didn’t stand a chance with Bella at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday night as Jacob & Bella, played by Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart in “New Moon,” won cutest couple and beat Edward & Bella. Lautner was also named Favorite Movie Actor at the slimed-doused awards show, while another Taylor, Swift in this case, dominated the music category, winning Favorite Song for “You Belong With Me” and Favorite Singer.    For the Favorite Movie category, chipmunks ruled over transforming robots, mutants, and vampires. “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” won over “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” and “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”  Slimed celebrities for this year included Steve Carrell, Tina Fey, and Katy Perry, who donned a blue wig to match the green goo. Performers included Rihanna and tween heartthrob Justin Bieber. Kevin James hosted the show at the Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.

Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron Nominated for Choice Male Hottie Teen Choice Award

taylor-kitschRobert Pattinson and Zac Efron are vying for Choice Male Hottie Teen Choice Award with the likes of Chace Crawford, Jonas Brothers, and Taylor Kitsch.  The list of nominees for 2009 Teen Choice Awards has been unveiled and it sees the likes of Robert Pattinson and Zac Efron being nominated for Choice Male Hottie prize. Both movie heartthrobs vie for the category with fellow actors that include Chace Crawford, Jonas Brothers, and Taylor Kitsch. Zac and the Jonas boys, additionally, are nominated for Choice Red Carpet Icon: Male. Their competitors for the gong include “American Idol” season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert, Justin Timberlake, and Kanye West.  As for Choice Female Hottie Teen Choice Award, the nominees are Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox, Vanessa Hudgens, Beyonce Knowles, and Blake Lively. Miley, in the meantime, is also nominated for the category of Choice Red Carpet Icon: Female. She competes against the likes of Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Rachel Bilson, and Eva Longoria. Beside them all, this year’s Teen Choice Awards also lists senior actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie among its nominees. The celebrity partners are vying for the category of Choice Celebrity Activist.  2009 Teen Choice Awards will be aired Monday, August 10, on FOX. Jonas Brothers have been tapped to serve as both hosts and performers at the 11th annual awards gala. Fans ages 13-19 can vote once each day for their favorite in movie, TV, music, and other categories starting from today at Teen Choice Awards 2009.
