Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin says touring is less ‘stressful’ now he takes his children on the road with him

The singer says his two-year-old twin sons Matteo and Valentino help diffuse tension among his crew because they are so happy all the time.

He said: “I work with 115 people on the road and when I get to the venue, people are working and building the stage, and it can be stressful. They could be arguing and then my kids walk by and it all stops and it’s, ‘Hi Matteo. Hi Valentino. How are you doing?’ You get 30 seconds of peace and love and joy ‘ even if they go back to the craziness after.”

The ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ hitmaker ‘ who is openly homosexual ‘ had the boys via a surrogate mother in August 2008 and he insists the process is a ‘beautiful’ thing.

He added in an interview with the Metro newspaper: “Everything is perfect the way it is right now. One day, I woke up and thought, ‘I need to become a father.’ So I sat in front of the computer, looked up parenting and came across surrogacy ‘ and it’s beautiful. My children are a miracle. They’re here because I really wanted them in my life.

“They were wished for and came to me. People say it’s not good travelling with them, they need stability. Daddy is their stability. Besides, at that age, what’s normal? Everything’s new.”

Ricky, 39, recently revealed he is keen to add a daughter to his family after he stars in ‘Evita’ on New York’s Broadway in 2012.

He said: “I’d like a daddy’s girl. I’ll be steady in New York, and then, after I do the play, the baby will be born and I’m going to be able to spend time with her.”

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is honoring Grammy winner Ricky Martin and Tony Award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth at the 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Both stars are being recognized for their positive contribution to the LGBT community. Last year, Martin, who had been a heartthrob in the ’90s, came out last year. He will receive the Vito Russo Award, named after one of the organization’s founders, which is given to an openly LGBT media personality who has made a significant difference in promoting equal rights.

GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios said, “Ricky coming out was a game changer for many gay and transgender Latino children, who for too long, did not have many out gay people to look up to.”

“Through his music, videos and interviews, Ricky has sent an important message that our community wants the same things all people do: an equal chance to raise our families and take care of our loved ones.”

Chenoweth, meanwhile, will receive the Vanguard Award, which is given to those who have increased the visibility and understanding of the LGBT community.

It can be recalled that in May last year, Chenoweth responded to a Newsweek article in which the author insisted that gay actors are not convincing in their non-homosexual roles. She defended gay actors, including her “Promises, Promises” co-star Sean Hayes, demanding that Newsweek should “embrace stories which promote acceptance, love and unity.”

Barrios said of Chenoweth, “When allies like Kristin take such powerful stands against anti-gay sentiments in the media, it sends an important message of equality. It is a privilege to honor such a talented and conscientious advocate for fairness towards the LGBT community.”

The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held in New York at the Marriot Marquis Times Square on March 19, at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles on April 10, and at the San Francisco Marriot Marquis in San Francisco on May 14.

The Puerto Rican singer has two-year-old twins Mateo and Valentino ‘ who were born to a surrogate mother ‘ and would consider exploring different routes to give them a sibling. He said: ‘Adoption is beautiful ‘ give it a try. Even though I started with surrogacy, adoption is probably my next step.’ Ricky is looking forward to Christmas with his young sons but said although he will teach them his holiday traditions, they are still too young to really appreciate what it is all about. He told our source show ‘Extra’: ‘Now it’s not about me, it’s about my children. The holidays are for them. ‘ guess I’ll get up early in the morning ‘ they’re only two years old so I’m teaching them what the holidays are all about. This is really their first Christmas so let’s wait and see. Ricky will celebrate his 39th birthday on Christmas Eve (24.12.10) but he doesn’t mind having his special day so close to Christmas because he already has everything he wants. When asked if he would prefer his birthday not to be so close to Christmas he said: No I don’t think about that I’ve been very lucky.  ‘ just want my children to be happy and to be healthy. And I guess that’s my wish.

Ricky Martin likes ‘smart, witty’ men. The openly gay singer – who has two-year-old twin sons, Matteo and Valentino – is attracted to guys who have self-confidence without being arrogant and are open to new things. He said: “I love witty. I love mental strength. Just being secure. “With all the stuff I come with, you have to be someone who is sure of himself. That turns me on. “Somebody who is very sure of themselves without being arrogant – smart, witty, has a career. Somebody who is very open-minded about things. That’s what I love. Adventurous is the word.” Since he became a father, Ricky insists he is more wary about romance than he used to be because he has to think about the impact any relationship would have on his kids. He added to Attitude magazine: “I used to fall in love quickly. When you are young you are open to taking risks and not afraid of anything. “Now my priorities are different. I have children and they are the most important thing in my life. OK, I’m in a relationship and I know how lucky I am.”

From all the artists Kara has helped, her songs have sold over 100 million copies altogether. From 1995 to 2008, Kara DioGuardi has successfully written over 40 international-charting singles, helping 45 albums reach the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. In 2003, Kara won a BMI Cable Award for co-writing and performing the theme song “Somethin’ to Say” for “For The People” – a Lifetime TV series starring Cecilia Suarez, Debbi Morgan, Lea Thompson and A. Martinez. The Grammy-nominated songwriter has also won the 2007 SOCAN Award and the 2007 “BMI Pop Songwriter of the Year,” after having been given 10 BMI Pop Awards for the “most-performed song on the radio” for four consecutive years. One of Kara DioGuardi’s recent achievements is a nomination for the Latin Grammys for “Best Song” after co-writing Belinda’s single “Bella Tracion” with Ben Moody, Mitch Allan, Nacho Peregrin and Belinda. Aside from songwriting, Kara DioGuardi also co-owns the Arthouse Entertainment, a publishing company that helps record companies, artists, songwriters and other music entities that need compositions, artists, productions and other music-related services. Ricky Martin Comes Out, Reveals He Is Gay

Ricky Martin Comes Out, Reveals He Is Gay

Ricky Martin Comes Out, Reveals He Is Gay. Ricky Martin is proud to be a “fortunate homosexual man.” The “Livin’ la Vida Loca” star has come out, announcing to the world that he was living a lie and that he wants to share with the world his “entire truth.” The bun-shaking Latino heartthrob finally revealed his sexuality in a heartfelt post on his official website. He had been reluctant then because, as a singer who has a large female fan base, he knew it could hurt his career. But now the 38-year-old Puerto Rican star is proud to say that he is gay. The reason for his outing? He said his twin sons, born via a surrogate mother in 2008, inspired him to tell the truth. He wrote, “Fear of my truth? Not at all! On the contrary, it fills me with strength and courage. This is just what I need especially now that I am the father of two beautiful boys that are so full of light and who with their outlook teach me new things everyday. To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids were born with.” “Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment.” And although he admits he doesn’t know what will happen after his revelation, he says he is content. He added, “Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution.” “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.”

Ben Montague new single

ben-montague2Can’t hold me down is an expression that seems to strike a sweet chord with singer songwriter Ben Montague at the moment. Not only is it the name of his debut single, it also perfectly depicts his soaring career right now.

Since bursting onto the live music scene this year, the London born singer songwriter has won the seal of approval by everyone from Genesis’ Mike Rutherford to Formula One’s Eddie Jordan, but more recently he has added American Idol Judge Kara Dioguardi to his ever increasing list of fans. On hearing Ben’s track Weight of Love, the multi-award winning and Grammy-nominee (who judges alongside a panel of Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell) immediately fell in love with it and recorded it with her own vocal.  Ben shot to fame when he recently performed an impromptu gig with Queen’s Roger Taylor and Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason at one of Eddie Jordan’s celebrity packed Formula One parties. In the audience that night was Mike Rutherford of Genesis and Mike and the Mechanics fame who was so impressed by Ben’s ability that he invited him to write and record at the legendary Fisher Lane Farm studios, widely renowned as the venue where Genesis recorded most of their music. Creative studio sessions followed with Gary Go (who recently scored a support slot for Take That on their summer stadium tour which will see him perform in front of a million people in 1 month) and esteemed producer Peter-John Vetesse, (Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Dido, Mel C, Heather Small) and the result was Ben’s debut single ‘Can’t Hold Me Down’ (30th March). Offering a modern twist on many classic songwriters it is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated debut releases from an artist this year.

As well as one of this country’s most promising songwriters Ben is a captivating live performer in his own right. After touring through Nashville, New York and LA he caught the ear of US publishers Kobalt, who have since hooked him up with some of their top writers. Ben is currently in talks about collaborations with Gary Burr (Christina Aguilera, Ricky Martin), Mark Hudson (Aerosmith, Madonna), Dennis Matkosky (Keith Urban, LeAnne Rimes), Lindy Robbins (Backstreet boys, Anastacia), Curt Frasca & Sabelle Breer (Avril Lavigne, Madonna, Celine Dion), Jeff Cohen (Josh Groban, Nick Lachey) and Reed Vertelney (Michael Jackson).

Ben’s UK tour continues at the following dates:

19th March – Bristol – Louisiana
23rd March – Amber Rocks (charity concert hosted by Eddie Jordan)
29th March – Liverpool – Baby Blue (support to Paul Young)
9th April – Heathrow – Terminal 5
22nd April – Support to Joe Bonamassa @ The Sage, Gateshead
23rd April – Support to Joe Bonamassa @ The Civic, Wolverhampton
28th April – Support to Joe Bonamassa @ City Hall, Sheffield
29th April – Support to Joe Bonamassa @ St David’s Hall Glasgow
