Lady Gaga is at the centre of a bidding war by tea firms who want her to be the face of their drink

Lady Gaga is at the centre of a bidding war by tea firms who want her to be the face of their drink. The ‘Alejandro’ singer – who is well known for her love of the hot beverage ‘ is reportedly being pursued by several major companies who want her to be their brand ambassador. So far, distinguished English firm Twinings is the most determined to bag the contract with the eccentric pop star. They have made a multi-million pound offer to her management and have also instructed expert tea makers to invent a new oriental flavour especially for Gaga which they hope will appeal to her fans and younger drinkers around the globe.  A source told The Sun newspaper: ‘Her management have received a load of offers from major tea companies but Twinings are the frontrunners. “They want to launch a new tea with her face on it. Names like The Taste Of Gaga are being batted about. The idea is to have tasting sessions in which she would participate. ‘The tasters are coming up with a tea with an oriental flavour. They want to market tea to a new, younger generation – particularly in America. Gaga is making drinking tea cool again.” The 24-year-old star – real name Stefani Germanotta ‘ is often pictured sipping tea from her favourite cup and saucer set and rarely travels anywhere without it. She threw a huge tantrum last year when she lost the teacup.  The ‘Poker Face’ singer accidentally left the blue flowered cup at a restaurant in London’s Metropolitan Hotel and sent a taxi on a £35 round trip from her suite at Blakes Hotel to collect it. A source said: “She kicked up a fuss and demanded someone get her cup and saucer back. “She wouldn’t drink out of anything else. It just looked like any other cup and saucer and said ‘Made in China’ on the bottom. It seemed a lot of fuss over nothing.”

It’s extremely flattering that people think she’s like Carrie.”   She continues, “I want to say one thing about Lady Gaga, which is, a year and a half ago, I was in an editing room working on a project and had already downloaded as much music of hers as I could onto my iPod. And she was not in the mainstream yet, but I loved her.”  The actress even admits that her young son is a fan of the “Poker Face” singer as well. “My son sang ‘Bad Romance’ for a singing contest,” she says. “That’s right, James Wilkie sang ‘Bad Romance.’” Parker can next be seen on the big screen in the highly anticipated “Sex and the City” movie in May while Lady Gaga is currently on tour.

Lady Gaga would ‘rather die’ than be seen in flat shoes. The eccentric singer believes pop stars owe it to their fans to always live up to their image and has vowed never to be caught unaware by the paparazzi. She said: ‘I would rather die than have my fans not see me in a pair of high heels. I’d never give up my wigs and hats for anything. ‘You see legendary people taking out their trash, I think it’s destroying showbusiness.’ Although she is flattered her fans choose to dress like her, Gaga has urged her followers to find their own sense of style and celebrate their individuality.  She said: ‘Be whatever you want to be, it’s not about emulating me… it’s all right to be different.’  Despite having a diverse range of celebrity fans – including Dame Helen Mirren, Cheryl Cole and Megan Fox – Gaga doesn’t have any famous friends.   She told UK TV talk show host Jonathan Ross: ‘I didn’t speak to anyone at the BRITs. I’m an outcast from the music industry, I don’t have any friends in the music business.  ‘I feel completely detached from the celebrity world, you never see me falling out of nightclubs.’    The ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker also claims her commitment to her work stops her meeting men but believes she is too ‘crazy’ for relationships.  She explained: ‘I don’t have time to get to know anybody, I’m single and alone… nobody would put up with my craziness.’

Lady Gaga is to splash out £300,000 on the piano she played with Sir Elton John at the Grammy Awards.  The singer is desperate to buy the instrument – designed by controversial Canadian artist Terence Koh – after she and the legendary star opened the US awards ceremony on Sunday (31.01.10), with a medley of her songs ‘Poker Face’, ‘Speechless’ and Elton’s ‘Your Song’.   A source said: ‘Terence’s artwork is confrontational and incorporates many elements that appeal to Gaga such as sex, punk and gay culture. The black piano with arms reaching out of it was beautiful and it’s no surprise she wants it, especially after giving one of the performances of her career.’ Earlier this week, Gaga described her duet with Elton as a dream come true, and that she couldn’t control her emotions before the show.  The 23-year-old pop star said: ‘I ruined all of my make-up right before the show. Crying… I was just so happy.  ‘I had been fantasising about this performance piece for a while and we got to do it and I’m just really truly floored.’  It seems likely Gaga may be able to get the money together, as her bankability is at an all time high. She was reportedly paid £30,000 for a two-hour DJ set at an exclusive London club Maya on January 20. The ‘Just Dance’ hitmaker also managed to raise donations of $500,000 for victims of the Haiti earthquakes on January 27 with an impromptu show in New York.

Lady Gaga Drops Her Poker Face

Lady Gaga let down her poker face.  The “Paparazzi” songstress known for her blonde locks, oversized sunglasses and outrageous, often face-obscuring ensembles finally revealed her face during an apperance on a German chat show “Wetten Dass…?” yesterday, British newspaper The Daily Mail reported.  The smoky-eyed songbird appeared somewhat mainstream on the show Saturday night when she waltzed onto the stage wearing an all black strapless ensemble with material that jutted out of her hips perpendicularly and matching black PVC boots.  The 23-year-old singer was showing so much of her own skin that she was able to discuss the tattoos on her arm with the host, including one tattoo of a poem by German writer Rainer Maria Rilke, the paper reported.  Eccentric style choices have come to be expected from the singer, whose fashion selections have included face-obscuring lace headpieces, a leather dress encircled with oversized gold crystals and a piece made entirely out of Kermit the Frog stuffed animals.  The singer’s design team, Haus of Gaga, is primarily responsible for her outfits. “They’re my best friends,” she told MTV. “I’m not really sure what the world thinks … but I do hear things like, ‘Who is the Haus of Gaga? and ‘Are you putting out a fashion line?’ And no one gets it. It’s not a commodity. It’s not something that’s meant to be sold.”

Who exactly is Lady Gaga?

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga: eccentric genius or crazy crooner. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, famously known as Lady Gaga, is nothing short of a musical spectacle. From being dropped from Def Jam at age 19 to resurrecting with Akon’s Kon Live Distribution label, Germanotta has made no apologies for her out there personality which is oftentimes reflected in her outrageous costumes and dramatic make-up. In 2008, she dropped her debut album The Fame and showed us her Poker Face, and ever since she has been in the lens of media all over the world. It is said that any press is good press but with labels such as hermaphrodite and bisexual being tossed around loosely, it leaves one wondering, who exactly is Lady Gaga?   She has been a media princess since she dropped her debut album and has been at the centre of celebrity dissection. Her outfits have left the fashion industry wondering whether to label her a faux pas or an attention-grabbing genius. Musically, her vocals mixed with techno-inspired beats is the perfect recipe for catchy dance songs and ultimately Billboard success with 20 million singles and three million albums sold worldwide. She is very adept with the piano which is reflected in her acoustic performances of her songs. She has the rock edge of Gwen Stefani with the image potency of ’80s Madonna and is oftentimes misunderstood by many as being a druggie or someone who has completely lost her mind. She must have been doing something right, since at the recent MTV VMAs she had nine nominations and provided competition for the glorified diva herself Beyoncé, who also had nine nominations. Her ability to attract attention seems to be natural with her costume changes and choices at the VMAs, which ranged from a devil lace ensemble to a white ensemble with a bird nest for a headpiece. She chose to perform Paparazzi, which describes this desperate need to be loved by those ever-present camera lenses. The concept for her performance could not have been anticipated with her along with her dancers draped in white, a wheelchair, a metal walker and a conclusion that included her bleeding from the chest and eyes and then ultimately hanging from the top of the stage. Whether she is a genius or crazy is left up to your perception, but one thing is for sure, there is no one like Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga turned blonde to avoid being mistaken for Amy Winehouse

ladygagartvSinger Lady Gaga has admitted that went for the blonde look to avoid her resemblance with troubled pop star Amy Winehouse. The 23-year-old was shocked when an interviewer asked her questions thinking she was the Rehab hitmaker.  The Poker Face singer insists that she wants to be known for her own style. Amy is a badass but I want to be known for my own look, the Sun quoted Lady Gaga as saying.  Gagas real name is Stefani Germanotta. She got her stage name when the music producer Rob Fusari compared her vocal style to that of Freddie Mercury, and took the name Gaga from the 1984 Queen single “Radio Ga-Ga.”

Lady GaGa wows with big beats, bluesy surprises

lady-gaga22Even before “queen of all media” Perez Hilton took the stage and proclaimed her “the new princess of pop,” Lady GaGa showed she’s a serious contender to Madonna’s crown Friday at the Wiltern. She might be a relative newcomer, but the artist born Stefani Joanne Germanotta commanded the stage with a royal air during her hour-long set, at times even sporting a glowing scepter.

With two chart-topping singles to her credit and her debut album, “The Fame,” climbing the upper reaches of the Billboard 200, GaGa’s first theater tour is a hot ticket — and the Lady did not disappoint. Borrowing from Madonna, Grace Jones, David Bowie and Daryl Hannah‘s “Blade Runner” replicant, GaGa put on a compelling show revolving around her mysterious persona, a trio of leather-jacketed dancers, multiple costume changes and props and a lone DJ providing musical accompaniment.

Old-schoolers might bemoan the lack of a live band, but GaGa’s eye candy and an onslaught of beats delivered by DJ Space Cowboy filled the void effectively. Opening with the dance-pop basher “Paparazzi,” trapped on a platform that complemented her angular modern ensemble, GaGa focused on the beat-heavy pop that comprises most of “Fame.”

But midset she pulled out a surprise: a translucent purple piano she claimed was designed specifically to match her dress, made of giant plastic bubbles. At the keyboard she proceeded to perform a drastically rearranged bluesy lounge version of her current hit “Poker Face,” proving her talent extends beyond the dance floor.

It’s the sort of stunt a veteran artist pulls after performing one of their biggest hits for decades, but GaGa had the chutzpah to circumvent the wait and go directly for the kill. She followed with the not-yet-released doo-wop-flavored space oddity “Future Love,” again performed on piano while she serenaded a glowing mannequin.

In an age of too much information, one of the most refreshing things about GaGa is her mystery. She often hid behind shades, and her mostly incomprehensible, coy and semi-robotic stage patter did little to tell us who’s that Lady.

“Some people say Lady GaGa is a lie, and they’re right,” she said at one point. “But every day I kill to make it true.”

Whatever the case, by the time GaGa pulled out her big hits, “Just Dance” and the more familiar version of “Poker Face,” she had transformed the Wiltern into a joyous dance party that might have made even that other Stefani a little jealous.
