Kautzman manages to evade the clichés of the singer/songwriter genre despite keeping elements such as the plaintive strumming of a lonely acoustic or vocals that are forcefully and heartrendingly aching. Although drawing from a multitude of influences to create her own sound and atmosphere, Kautzman’s music has been said to flow in a similar vein as that of Feist, Sharon Van Etten and Neko Case.

Beyonce’s Dad may have stole from singer

Beyonce’s firing of her dad as her manager is now believed to be the result of him stealing money from her.

According to legal papers obtained by TMZ, Mathew Knowles is claiming that Live Nation Entertainment made false claims about him to his daughter in the hopes of coming aboard her 2011 world tour.

“I’ve only parted ways with my father on a business level. He is my father for life, and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me,” Beyonce said in a statement on the termination in March.

“I grew up watching both he and my mother [Tina Knowles] manage and own their own businesses. They were hard-working entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps,” she added.

While Mr. Knowles denies claims that he stole any money, Beyonce’s law firm conducted an audit that concluded that Knowles had in fact stolen money.

Mr. Knowles has asked a judge to take depositions from Live Nation employees to determine how they arrived at their conclusions.

Beyonce’s most recent album, “4”, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.

Rapper Pitbull says he was influenced by 80′s rock bands.

The Miami native, whose current hit “Give Me Everything” has sold over two million copies and is number one on Billboards Hot 100 chart, recently told The Boombox in Hollywood, Calif. that he learned a lot by watching Guns “N Roses and Poison.

“Definitely as part of growing up in the ’80s, I seen a lot of the rock bands and the rock shows, whether it was the big hair spray, Def Leppard and Poison, you had the U2, they didn’t have the hair like that. I think they were the ones really living it up, Guns ‘N’ Roses, so yeah, you seen a lot of that.”

While the 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Armando Chrisitian Perez, considers himself a rock star, don’t expect to catch him doing “rock star-type things.”

“Rock stars could get away with a lot before. There wasn’t a Twitter or Facebook, it wasn’t as real time as it is now,” he explained. “Catch one of your rock stars messing up a hotel room or pissing from a balcony or whatever they used to do and watch how quick that hits the world.”

Pitbull also said collaborating with Marc Anthony, Chris Brown T-Pain, Ne-Yo, Kelly Rowland and Sean Paul on his sixth studio album “Planet Pit” wasn’t something that was planned.

“As far as the collaborations on the album, I wasn’t looking to work with all these folks to be honest with you. This happened kind of on its own. There was a plan, didn’t pan out, but it did in a weird way,” he said. “But the thing is when you line up an album with all this music, you’re looking for people to jump on it, the people hear the music and go, ‘Oh, man, yeah, definitely want to be involved in this, one way or another.’ A lot of folks just sent me music and I think that with “Planet Pit” we did exactly what we wanted to do, which was put together an album full of hits. And I wanted to tap into everybody’s world to create our own.”

While Pitbull is off promoting his album with Enrique Iglesias on a tour around the world, the rapper said he wants to forget about the big production and stick to giving music to the public _ like the rock bands he looked up to.

“As far as massive production, I’m not a big fan of that; I’m a big fan of giving fans the artist, giving them entertainment,” he said. “The music is what drives this, drives the public and drives the show. But I guarantee you go to a show and you’ll leave going, “Whoa. How does he stay up there an hour and a half doing that?” I’m still an old-school believer of the artist and the band bringing the music to the public.”

Company suing Britney Spears says her conservatorship is a “sham”

Britney Spears

Britney Spears

Britney Spears is being sued by a licensing company for breach of contract and the company is demanding that a judge order Spears to be deposed. Brad Sense is suing Spears and her father Jamie Spears for allegedly stopping payment of royalties from Spears’ successful Elizabeth Arden fragrance line.

“Brand Sense intends to seek immediate relief from the probate court’s order. The notion that Britney Spears is mentally or emotionally unfit to testify under oath is a sham,” a court document on the matter states.

“Ms. Spears currently has the mental, emotional and physical capacity to endure the strain of a months-long international concert tour, make numerous public appearances, engage in interviews with the media, participate in numerous promotional campaigns for her various business enterprises, and maintain custody of her children,” the document continues.

The deal with Arden was licensed by Brad Sense and the company is seeking $10 million dollars in damages.

A hearing has been set for July 11th to see if Britney will be ordered to be deposed.
