Adele and Bullet For My Valentine line-up for Radio 1′s Festive Festival 2010.  Nick Grimshaw announces the line up for Radio 1′s Festive Festival 2010. BBC Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw has announced the line up for Radio 1′s annual Festive Festival returning again to the legendary BBC Maida Vale Studios, Monday 20th December. The artists confirmed for the festive celebrations are: Adele, Bullet For My Valentine James Blake, Katy B, Wretch 32, The Vaccines and Yuck. Each act is set to perform three live tracks from the studios between 7-10pm. For the last hour from 10pm, Radio 1 DJs Toddla T, Benji B and Jaymo and Andy George take over with special mixes to get listeners into the party spirit. Hosted by Zane Lowe and Nick Grimshaw, Radio 1′s Festive Festival will be broadcast live 7pm- 11pm.2011′s FF line-up continues Radio 1′s tradition of bringing together a mix of established acts and rising stars tipped for big things in 2011. Previous years have featured performances from: Plan B, The Hoosiers, Kate Nash Glasvegas, Marina and The Diamonds, The XX, Chipmunk, Mumford and Sons, Florence and the machine, Friendly Fires and Chase & Status.

Field Day announce full line-up

Victoria-ParkThe gates of Victoria Park open on August 1st for their third annual outing, Field Day are pleased to announce the full stage-by-stage breakdown of stellar acts playing this year’s event, including some amazing new additions. Plus, there will be a brand new Guardian Tea Room Tent and Do You Come Here Often, a spankingly fresh art happening area from Time Out, plus, for the dedicated party hardcore, there’s some very special warm up action to be had.   Adding their not inconsiderable presence to this year’s the line up will be the sensational, Huw Stephens championed, Gaggle who will be showcasing their mind-blowing 22-piece ‘choral riot grrrl’ skirmishes between bands on the Eat Your Own Ears mainstage, ones definitely not to miss. JD Twitch, one half of Glaswegian leftfield supremos Optimo will be throwing down his own inimitable brand of eclectic festival shakers and the esteemed Frank Tope will be donning his Wild Geese guise to unleash some super-slamming House and continental Disco grooves to keep you cutting the rug.

Friendly Fires added to Standon Calling

friendlyfires300The line up for Standon Calling just got bigger with Friendly Fires, Freeland and Golden Silvers confirmed for this year’s ultimate space-themed festival! They join headliners Femi Kuti and Positive Force, Ladytron and Tony Christie for the most delectable festival of the Summer.  Fresh from the triumphant success of their self titled album Friendly Fires are set to headline the main stage on Saturday night at Standon Calling. With the album going Silver in the UK, the band were nominated for a Best Breakthrough Award at the South Bank Awards and for ‘Best Dancefloor Filler’ at the NME Awards earlier in the year. One of the most exciting live acts around Friendly Fires are poised to release their new single ‘Jump In The Pool’’ on XL next week. Stepping straight off the plane from OZ Friendly Fires make their triumphant return to Standon and are rumoured to be releasing an all new track at the end of the summer.  Not ones to rest on their laurels, organisers of Standon have also confirmed Freeland (Adam Freeland’s live incarnation) for what promises to be an unmissable epic live performance. The band have just released their new album ‘Cope’ featuring none other than Tommy Lee (Motley Crue) on drums, Twiggy Ramirez on bass, Tony Bevilaque (Distillers/Spinerette) and Joey Santiago (The Pixies) on guitar. With a huge sound and jaw dropping visuals this is a band purpose built for the festival stage.

Also appearing on this stellar line up are NME favourites and band of the moment The Golden Silvers. Having just released their debut long player ‘True Romance’ to rave reviews the Silvers will join Florence and The Machine on their sell out UK tour at the end of the month. Fleet Foxes join End of the Road Festival

Fleet Foxes is an indie folk band which formed in Seattle, Washington, United States in 2006. The band consists of Robin Pecknold (vocals, guitar), Skyler Skjelset (guitar), Christian Wargo (bass, guitar, vocals), Casey Wescott (keyboards, vocals) and J. Tillman (drums, vocals). They are signed to the labels Sub Pop and Bella Union.

Fleet Foxes released the six-track Fleet Foxes EP in 2006, a five-track EP, Sun Giant on April 8, 2008, and their debut full-length self-titled album, Fleet Foxes on June 3, 2008. It was given 4 stars by Rolling Stone, and compared to the likes of The Beach Boys, Animal Collective, and Crosby, Stills & Nash and Psycho Karaoke from Australia. On June 6, 2008, they received a 9.0 out of 10 in a review by Pitchfork for their self-titled LP, and on December 19th, the Sun Giant Ep and the self titled LP together shared the title of Pitchfork’s #1 album(s) of 2008.

The quintet describe their music as “baroque harmonic pop jams.” They have played at major venues such as the Bumbershoot Music Festival in Seattle, Washington, South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas and Sasquatch! Music Festival at the Gorge Amphitheatre in May 2008. On June 24, 2008, Fleet Foxes went #1 on the CMJ Radio 200 Chart.
Fleet Foxes and Explosions in the Sky have been confirmed for headline slots at the End of the Road Festival 2009, with other confirmations including Okkervil River, Magnolia Electric Co, The Broken Family Band, The Acorn, The Dodos and Mumford and Sons.

Little need be said here about Fleet Foxes except that it’s hard to think of a better place to see them play than the leafy Garden Stage, with a glass of local cider and a peacock meandering about nearby. They’ll be headlining on the Saturday, with Explosions in the Sky taking the Friday slot.
