Pam Anderson to play Virgin Mary in Christmas comedy special

She was a Playmate of the Month for Playboy, she has a sex tape, and her romances have been well published. She has had many roles that played up her two biggest assets. And now, Baywatch’s Pamela Anderson will trade her revealing red swimsuit for a blue gown and veil.

Anderson will star as the Virgin Mary in an hour-long comedy sketch titled “A Russell Peters Christmas.” The special is set to air in December on Canada CTV network.

The broadcast is described as “an irreverent twist on the Christmas special,” and  “is unlike anything viewers have seen before.” It is already creating a lot of buzz and backlash.

The show promises to be “tastier and more dangerous than a cup of eggnog,” and it will pay “tribute to the holidays with a mix of stand-up, sketch, stop-motion animation, and musical performances,” according to producers.

Featured in the comedy will be a star-studded cast including crooner Michael Buble, SNL alumnus Jon Lovitz, Ted Lange, comedic actor Faizon Love and others.

While Anderson has often been typecast as a ditzy, buxom blonde, the producers say her comedic timing and quirkiness make her perfect for their Mary. They noticeably left out “virgin.”

Michael Buble's home broken into as he wed

Michael Buble’s home was broken into while he was getting married. The ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’ singer married Argentinean actress Luisana Lopilato in Buenos Aires last month but as they exchanged vows, burglars were targeting their nearby home.

According to gossip website TMZ, the criminals disabled the couple’s alarm system and covered up their security cameras, although it is not known what they took or much damage they caused.

After learning of the burglary, Luisana told local reporters: “I will not let this ruin the happiest day of my life.”

As well as their nuptials in Argentina ‘ which started on Thursday (31.03.11) and carried on over the weekend – Canadian-born Michael recently announced plans to host a second wedding in Vancouver.

He said: “We are doing one in Argentina and that’s for her close family, and then we are doing one in Vancouver.”

However, the 35-year-old star – who previously dated actress Emily Blunt – joked the pair had originally planned on tying the knot on April 29, but was concerned the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton would overshadow his nuptials.

Michael explained: “I was going to do it on the 29th but I figured I wouldn’t get any press.”

UK Music Sales Dip Further In 2010 But Digital Albums Hit The Mainstream

UK Music Sales Dip Further In 2010 But Digital Albums Hit The Mainstream. A third successive record year for singles and the emergence of a mainstream market for digital albums failed to halt a further overall decline in UK music sales in a market that remains heavily distorted by still-increasing levels of illegal downloading, new Official Charts Company data released today by the BPI confirmed.

Combined sales of digital and physical albums overall fell by 7.0% to 119.9m in 2010, with growth in digital sales failing to offset the decline in physical CD sales. Despite the encouraging digital albums sales of 21.0m, growing 30.6% on last year’s sales of 16.1m, the market for CD albums declined 12.4% to 98.5m from 112.5m in 2009.

The singles market recorded an all-time sales high of 161.8m, 5.9% up on 2009′s tally of 152.7m, reflecting the unparalleled choice and value on offer from the UK’s burgeoning digital music retail environment. 5.2m tracks were downloaded in the final week of 2010 – the first time weekly sales have surpassed 5m. Sales of digital single tracks represented 98.0% of overall singles sales, with CD singles only accounting for 1.9m sales, down on last year’s total of 2.5m.

Geoff Taylor, BPI Chief Executive, said, “2010 showed that the digital singles highs seen in the previous two years were no fluke – music fans continue to embrace the convenience, value and choice offered by legal download stores. The market for digital albums also went mainstream in 2010 with nearly a fifth of sales now coming from online services.

“Yet however encouraging it is to see the digital market grow, this must be seen against the bigger picture. Despite unprecedented demand for music, and strong innovation offering consumers new ways to access music online, legal downloads are unable to offset the decline in CD sales because they are dwarfed by illegal competition.

“We will continue to do everything we can to promote the legal market, but meaningful action to tackle illegal downloading remains absolutely critical if we are to stabilise British music sales, let alone return to growth. Without it, investment in new digital services and in British musical talent will begin to dry up.”

Tony Wadsworth, BPI Chairman, added, “Consumer choice for recorded music has never been greater – both in depth of catalogue and the many ways to buy it. It is now crucial that action to stem illegal downloading, incentivising continued investment in this popular art form, is implemented decisively and urgently.”

It was a solid year for British artists in the 2010 album charts. Take That’s Progress was crowned overall year-end album chart champion, selling more than 1.8m copies during 2010. It was boosted in part by first week sales of almost 520,000, making it the fastest-selling album of this millennium.

Including Take That, The Official Charts Company end-of-year artist album Top 10 boasted five placings from new and established British talent, including Plan B’s The Defamation of Strickland Banks (No.5), Paolo Nutini’s Sunny Side Up (No.6), Florence & The Machine’s Lungs (No.8) and Mumford & Sons’ Sigh No More (No.10).

While Pop and Urban titles dominated the bestsellers list, there were also big successes for Classical artist André Rieu – who had two albums in the year-end Top 30 – and Michael Bublé, whose Crazy Love (classified as MOR / Easy) was the second-biggest selling UK album overall.

Eminem featuring Rihanna’s Love The Way You Lie sold 854,000 copies to become the UK’s No.1 single of 2010, narrowly seeing off a late challenge from X-Factor winner Matt Cardle’s single When We Collide which ended 2010 as the second biggest-selling single. Tinie Tempah also featured in the year-end Top 10 with his breakout hit Pass Out.

UK record companies and retailers worked hard during 2010 to make CDs available to consumers in record numbers of outlets on the high street. The Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) confirmed that over 6,600 stores stocked CDs in the run up to Christmas, compared to just over 4,600 at the beginning of 2010 – around 15% more than the 5,750 in 1999, music’s previous boom year.

Lady Gaga tops Billboard year-end charts. Billboard magazine has unveiled their year-end charts for 2010 and its little surprise that Lady Gaga is the Artist of the Year just one year after receiving the New Artist of 2009. She has two albums in the top 13 for the year and four singles in the top 100. New artists of the year goes to Ke$ha who had the biggest single of the year with Tik Tok. She is the first woman in the 64 year history of the Billboard charts to have the biggest single of the year with her debut. The biggest album of the year goes to Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream which spent six weeks at number one during the eligibility period. Lady Antebellum also makes history by being the first Top Duo/Group for the year from the country genre. The year-end charts are based on chart performance from the December 5, 2009 to the November 27, 2010 issue of the magazine. The top five artists of the year based on all chart activity:

Second was Sade who, on the surface, had an even bigger year with the top Album, R&B Album and R&B Single of the Year by a veteran artist, but they were limited to just the one hit album and single. Take That and Susan Boyle back Cowell’s Haiti single

Take That back Cowell’s Haiti single.  Take That and Susan Boyle have both agreed to appear on Simon Cowell’s charity record.  The pop singers have joined an ever growing list of stars who will record a version of REM’s song ‘Everybody Hurts’ to aid the victims of the two earthquakes that have struck Haiti in the last two weeks. Susan told The Sun newspaper: “The Haiti earthquake has caused devastation and suffering that most of us will never experience nor could imagine.  “I feel privileged to be a part of such a wonderful project that will raise money to help the country.” The line up for the single so far includes Rod Stewart, Mika, Michael Buble, Cheryl Cole, Leona Lewis, JLS and Westlife and Alexandra Burke. ‘Broken Heels’ singer Alexandra is flying from Germany to the UK on Monday to record her part for the song. She said: “I hope the single raises lots of money. It’s great that we can come together and do this. It’s a very special song.”  REM have agreed that all royalties from the single – including those they would get from originally writing the song – will go to the Haiti appeal.  Lead singer Michael Stipe said: “Any time anyone does something good, or tries to do something positive, the world shifts ever so slightly towards love and towards goodness.”  U2 and Jay-Z are also assembling their own charity single to raise money for the disaster in the US.

Mika had his best male or female kiss at 17

Mika had his best male or female kiss at 17

Mika had his best male or female kiss at 17

Mika had his best kiss when he was 17 – even though he smelt like ‘rat p**s’.  The ‘Love Today’ singer’s most memorable smooch took place nine years ago in a river in London when he was a drunk, lovelorn teenager. He said: “It was near the river in Hammersmith. I was drunk and we were on the bank, and I stepped back into the water and got wet. I smelt like rat p**s, but it was a phenomenal snog.”  The 26-year-old singer has always been vague about his sexuality, but admits he has a soft spot for ‘tough’ actress Hilary Swank and hunky US singer Michael Buble.  He quipped to Heat magazine: “I like Hilary Swank, because she’s sort of tough. Michael Buble kissed me at the Royal Variety Performance – not on the mouth, I wouldn’t let him.”  Mika recently admitted he is in a relationship, but refused confirm whether it is with a male or female. He explained: “I’m private about my private life and I think that’s an important thing. It’s not necessarily retaining mystery , it’s preserving yourself so you can sit down and write a song without feeling like you’ve sterilised yourself to be nice to everybody. “I discuss my sexuality in my lyrics more than anybody in pop music. There’s a way to discuss sexuality without labels. It’s not born out of fear because you don’t make music like mine if you’re operating from a position of fear, that’s for sure.”
