The ‘Dreamlover’ singer – who welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan into the world on April 30 – and her husband Nick Cannon have been disagreeing about whether or not to expand their family further, but the 41-year-old star is adamant two kids is enough.
Asked if he wanted to have more children, Nick told In Touch magazine:
“I do, Mariah doesn’t! She was like, ‘That’s it, I’m done! Two at once!’
“It was an intense pregnancy to carry twins around. She was a trooper.
She’s feeling amazing now. She’s back on her feet doing her thing.”
Despite the showbiz background of both their parents, TV presenter Nick is insistent they should try a different career path when they grow up.
He added: “There are so many other aspiring things to be in life. I always think we put too much emphasis on the entertainment world. I would love it if my children were doctors.”
‘America’s Got Talent’ front-man Nick finds fatherhood easy because he doesn’t need to sleep.
He joked: “I never slept before! I’m kind of cut out for fatherhood because I never sleep. So now, instead of doing other stuff, I’m with my kids. Other than that, definitely more sensitive to my moves because I’m responsible for people now.”
The Child Protection Services investigation against Mariah Carey has been dropped.
The singer and husband Nick Cannon – who became parents to son Moroccan Scott and daughter Monroe on April 30 – were shocked when an anonymous tip to the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family (DCFS) accused her of putting the babies at risk by drinking alcohol and taking drugs in her hospital room.
Mariah ‘ who brought the babies home from hospital two weeks ago – admitted to investigators she drank a Guinness but only on the advice of medical staff who informed her a dark beer would help with lactation.
Laura Wasser ‘ a lawyer for the singer ‘ was present during questioning before the DCFS decided not to pursue the matter, website TMZ reports.
Earlier this month, ‘America’s Got Talent’ host Nick explained the couple were shocked at the ‘ridiculous’ allegations.
He said: “Recently, the Child Protective Services were called with allegations that there was some drinking and drugs and all that going on, wild in the hospital, which makes no sense to me – how would a hospital allow that?
“It all started when a nurse suggested to my wife that if you drink Guinness, the dark beer, the yeast improves breastfeeding. I don’t know if someone heard that, but then they were saying my wife was drinking beer. People will do anything to try to conjure up a story.
“I spoke to the person from the Child Protective Services, I was like, ‘This is ridiculous. We’re going to make sure that this isn’t a case.’
“To even have to deal with that, my wife in the state that she’s in, we’re in the hospital, to even have to think about someone possibly wanting to investigate your children. It’s sad at the end of the day.”
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have officially revealed the names of their twin babies born over the weekend. The boy is named Moroccan Scott Cannon and the girl is named Monroe Cannon. Mariah’s rep, Cindi Berger, revealed the news to CNN.
Moroccan Scott is inspired by Carey’s New York City apartment, which features the Moroccan Room. It’s reportedly where Cannon proposed to his wife. Scott meanwhile is both Nick’s middle name and his grandmother’s maiden name.
Monroe Cannon is said to be taken from one of Mariah’s longtime inspirations, Marilyn Monroe. Monroe Cannon, like Carey, does not have a middle name.
“It has been a long, emotional journey for this family, and I couldn’t be happier for all of them,” Berger told CNN.
Carey gave birth to Moroccan and Monroe on April 30th in Los Angeles. Monroe weighed in at 5 pounds, 3 ounces, while Moroccan Scott weighed in at 5 pounds, 6 ounces.
The 42-year-old singer and her husband Nick Cannon welcomed their first children into the world at 12.07pm yesterday (30.04.11) ‘ their third wedding anniversary – with their daughter arriving first, weighing 5lb 3oz, and her 5lb 6oz brother arriving shortly afterwards.
Nick later tweeted his excitement about the new arrivals, whose names have not yet been released.
He posted: ‘My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life! I won’t ever be able to top this!’
Mariah’s spokesperson Cindy Berger ‘ who revealed the couple listened to the singer’s hit ‘We Belong Together’ as the babies arrived ‘ said the star is doing ‘really well’ and was completely calm throughout her labour ‘ unlike Nick, who struggled to find his way to the maternity unit at the undisclosed Los Angeles hospital where his wife gave birth.
Cindy said: “Nick was very nervous and Mariah was completely calm. Mariah thought it was another false labour and Nick was driving her to the hospital and she very calm and the music was blasting.
“When they walked into the hospital, Nick was going the wrong way and they nurse redirected them to go the maternity ward, and I said to her, ‘That’s right out of ‘I Love Lucy’,’ and she laughed.”
Canadian singer and songwriter Nelly Furtado said Monday in a Twitter post that she will donate to charity $1 million she received in 2007 for performing for the Qaddafi family. The 45-minute performance was made in an Italian hotel. Furtado, born in Victoria, did not disclose which charity group would receive the money paid to her by the Libyan dictator’s clan.
Furtado is one of the growing list of celebrities being criticized for receiving large amounts of money after performing for Qaddafi’s family, based on reports of a New York daily and WikiLeaks documents. Other performers who have been paid lavish amounts by the Qaddafis are Mariah Carey, Beyonce and Usher.
Beyonce and Usher performed in parties hosted by the dictator’s son Muatassim on St. Barts, a Caribbean island, while Mariah Caey sang at a New Year’s eve celebration.

Mariah Carey Officially Pregnant With Twins. Nick Cannon confirmed that his wife, Mariah Carey, is having twins! He shared the news on his 92.3 NOW morning radio show Thursday that it’s official and the first people to hear the news were none other than President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. That’s right. While performing for the First Family on TNT’s “Christmas in Washington,” airing this Friday, the President and his wife asked Mariah what she was having. “Because of the excitement, because of the emotion, she shared with the President and the First Lady that we are having twins,” Cannon said on his radio show. “Saying that we’ll even be able to share that story with our children that the first people that your mother told that you guys would be on this Earth together were the President of the United States and his wife is an awesome story,” Cannon continued. Cannon and Carey have stayed mum on the pregnancy per advice of the doctors. But after having a successful doctor’s appointment on Wednesday, Cannon was happy to reveal the news, though he’s not quite sure if he might get in trouble with Mariah for doing so. “We had another ultrasound last night and everything is A-okay,” Cannon said. “Both babies are healthy, in tip-top shape. The doctors were extremely happy, we’re extremely happy, so there you have it.”
