LSU football coach Les Miles mulls Michigan move, returns to Tigers

ESPN.com is reporting that the University met with LSU coach Les Miles, a Michigan alum, Monday in Baton Rouge, LA. and that a source close to Miles says he would take the job if offered.

The same outlet reported Tuesday that Miles will stay put with the Tigers, however.

Rich Rodriguez was fired as Michigan coach last week after posting a 15-22 mark in three seasons.

LSU Tigers spokesman Michael Bonnette confirmed the meeting between Miles, an offensive lineman under Bo Schembechler, and Michigan, but wouldn’t say who represented Michigan.

If Miles was interested in the opening, he was clearly torn about it

.”The only thing I can tell you is, I spent my day today with a number of underclassmen that I want to return right here,” Miles said Monday while attending LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson’s announcement that he’s turning pro. “I am extremely happy here. There’s a real comfort with my family here in Baton Rouge. I think it’s best left that way and I don’t know that there’s anything more to say.”

Miles is 62-17 with a 2007 national championship in six seasons at LSU since taking over for Nick Saban in 2005. He started his career as an assistant under the legend Bo Schembechler in 1980
