For only two shows The Libertines reunite for Reading

For only two shows The Libertines reunite for Reading

THE LIBERTINES reunite for their only two shows anywhere in the world. The band will be receiving ‘around £1.5million’ for the performance.  THE LIBERTINES came to prominence at the onset of the noughties and it’s fitting that this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival will see in the new decade with a performance from one the most important British bands of the past twenty years.    The Libertines are to reform after years of speculation to play Reading and Leeds Festival as the original four-piece with duel vocalists and guitarists Carl Barat and Peter Doherty, drummer Gary Powell and bassist John Hassall.    The band gave the world a kick in the proverbials, they played their own game, their own way, by their own rules and consequently paved the way for plenty of imitators but never equals.  They split in 2004 and Carl Barat went off and formed Dirty Pretty Things with Peter Doherty doing likewise with his Babyshambles ensemble. These, their Only Shows Worldwide are unmissable for any music fan. www.thelibertines.org.uk

New Found Glory announce intimate August tour

new-found-glory-rtvNEW FOUND GLORY announce August UK tour, including a main stage appearance at Reading and Leeds festivals and at Pukkelpop in Belgium Following on from their recent two exclusive and sold out UK dates (June 2009), NEW FOUND GLORY are pleased to announce a further run of UK headline dates which will also include a main stage performance at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals.  Having only just released their excellent new, Mark Hoppus produced (Motion City Soundtrack, The Matches) and Neil Avron mixed (Fall Out Boy) album Not Without A Fight earlier this year on new label Epitaph (making the US billboard chart top fifteen in the process), the band make it over for the 3rd time to the UK in under 10 months due to the live demand.  In anticipation of the release, NEW FOUND GLORY originally kicked off Fight on January 6th with an online video game and a weigh-in press conference that were followed by – in true NFG fashion – hysterically funny training videos launching each week beginning January 22nd that ultimately lead up to the main event: the music video for their first single ‘Listen To Your Friends’, which can be viewed here:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mvj6Pn47s0s  Even though all the guys are still in their twenties, NEW FOUND GLORY have been slugging it out for over a decade alongside bands like Green Day and Blink 182, becoming one of the most celebrated pop-punk bands in the world. Known for their trademark humor and fun loving attitude, the band’s latest effort will bring smiles to fans’ faces once again. The band’s ability to consistently produce pop-punk favorites, album after album, has made New Found Glory a household name worldwide and Not Without A Fight raises the bar.  Full list of August UK and Euro dates are:

Sat 22 UK, London Garage
Sun 23 UK, Manchester Club Academy

Juliette Lewis announcing additional album details and tour news

juliette-lewis2After five years, two full length albums and countless high profile tours and festival gigs, including The Leeds Festival, Reading and Lollapalooza with her band The Licks, Juliette Lewis is set to play a few dates in the UK and Europe again.  With an exciting new sound and a significantly diverse collection of songs, she decided to form a different band to capture her whole new groove and launch this next musical project under a different name: The New Romantiques.  “Because my next album will be so sonically different than anything I’ve done before and captures many flavors of my emotional life and voice, it needed an entirely new name. Do I have fear? Of course but it is exactly what gets me going. Because I L O V E what I’m doing’ says Lewis.  After launching the new band at SXSW this year, Lewis is ready to continue the live assault that has taken her music all across the world from Europe to Japan to Turkey, Australia, North America and Canada She will play a couple of UK festivals – The Great Escape and Sound City, as well as her own shows at KOKO’s Club NME and the ‘Not In Kansas Anymore’ night at Hoxton Bar and Grill , before heading out to Europe.

Juliette will be releasing her next album ‘Terra Incognita’ in the autumn. Instrumental in creating the sound for this new record is the album’s producer Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, leader of Mars Volta and together they have translated her ideas into an emotionally guttural and ultimately melodic and unpredictable, new sound. There is a deep undercurrent on the entire record of contrasting themes; romance and tragedy, dreams and disillusionment. “Everything she’s feeling, it’s just right there for you,” said Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of the recording. “It’s just honest. It’s her. All the music encapsulates her and it’s driven by her, and it’s made for her.” The record was mixed by the legendary Rich Cosey (NIN, Muse, Foo Fighters).

Juliette & The New Romantiques will be announcing additional album details and tour news in the coming weeks. For more information please go to: www.myspace.com/juliettelewis

Deftones announce Reading and Leeds performances

deftonesDeftones announced today they will be performing on the Main Stage at the Reading Festival on August 28th and Leeds Festival on August 30th, 2009 in the UK.  ‘We are really excited to be back in the UK for the Reading and Leeds Festivals. As of now our brother Chi will not be with us as he is still recovering, and we want to thank everyone for the continued love and support. It means a lot to the band and to the Cheng Family. Until Chi’s return our friend Sergio Vega will be filling in for him. We’ve known Sergio for a long time and he is part of the family. It’s been a while since we’ve played at Reading and Leeds so we can’t wait to get back and see all of our UK fans.” – Chino Moreno

Former Quicksand bassist and long time friend of Deftones, Sergio Vega, had already temporarily stepped in for Cheng in 1998, and will resume bass duty on April 5th, 2009 when Deftones plays Bamboozle Left in Irvine, California.
