Joss Stone has turned into ‘Sherlock Holmes’ in the aftermath of the foiled plot to kidnap her
The singer was targeted by two men who were arrested near her home in Devon, South West England, in June and charged with planning to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.
Although she is trying to put the terrifying incident behind her, Joss has been taking inspiration from the famous fictional British detective to find out what the motivation behind the plot was.
She said: ‘That (the kidnap plot) is a little bit crazy. God, I could go on about that for some time.
“I feel like . I’ve turned into Sherlock Holmes like, ‘Oh, OK, well maybe this person? But no, can’t be. Well what about this time I went to this place and I told that guy to shove it? No, it’s not him. No, I don’t know.’ ‘
Joss still finds the whole situation “crazy” and her mother Wendy is still furious and upset about what happened.
Speaking to ‘Access Hollywood’, she said: ‘People are crazy and maybe they need a hug? Or a spliff? I don’t know . they need something. It’s very rude and uncouth . Like, ‘Come on, can’t you do something better with your Tuesday? It’s very, very weird.’
“Yeah, my mum’s pretty p***ed off, let me tell you.”
Two men, Junior Bradshaw, 30, and 33-year-old Kevin Liverpool – both from Manchester, North West England – were at Exeter Crown Court last week for a preliminary hearing.
The 24-year-old pop star is now concentrating on her new super-group Super Heavy, which she has formed with Sir Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, Damian Marley and A.R. Rahman.
The 24-year-old singer ‘ who was recently the subject of an alleged kidnap plot ‘ recorded ‘Lp1′ in six days with former Eurythmics star Dave Stewart and had a “brilliant” time making the record.
She said: “I had lots of fun making it with Dave. We went to Nashville for like six days and at that end of that jam we found an album in there which is quite cool.
“It’s because the band was so tight and the studio was so brilliant. They had so many people in there making sure everything was sorted, so many brilliant people involved. Dave was like, ‘Look come over here, it will take a week, we’ll have a laugh. If you don’t like it you don’t have to use it. This band is great, I’ve worked with them, they’ve got a week free,’ and I was like, ‘That sounds like fun.’
Though Joss is a huge Eurythmics fan, she insists she wasn’t intimidated working with Dave because she has known him for such a long time.
She told website PopEater: “Was I intimidated? No because I’ve known Dave for ages now but I was at first. I first met Dave when I was 16 and I was pretty much intimidated by everything. I listened to Annie Lennox all the time.
“My mum and dad listened to her all the time, they have good taste luckily. So yeah with Dave it was like, ‘Oh my God you did that record? Wow, that’s amazing.
The talk show host discovered through a genealogical society that she is a distant cousin of the future princess and still has her fingers crossed for a last-minute invitation to her wedding to Prince William.
In an interview with Terri Seymour for ‘Extra’, she said: “We’re 15th cousins, yeah, it’s not like we’re 20th or something … we’re 15th.
“It’s not too late, Terri. I’m not counting anything out. That’s not how I got to where I am, by being a glass-half-empty kind of person. I mean, there could be a phone call.
“I have a beautiful outfit picked out, and a hat.”
Although she may not be invited to the nuptials, Ellen is hopeful she can use her family connections to secure an interview with Kate.
She said: “There will be a time when Oprah’s not gonna be around next year. Who will be around to help her when she needs something? Me.”
Ellen – who is married to actress Portia de Rossi is not the only American celebrity desperate to attend Kate and William’s nuptials at London’s Westminster Abbey.
Reese Witherspoon – who recently wed Hollywood agent Jim Toth – admitted she would have given anything to get an invite.
She said: “I can’t even contain my enthusiasm for the royal wedding! I’m kind of bummed I’m not invited to the royal wedding. My girlfriend asked me if I was invited. Well, no, but I invited them to my wedding!”
Celebrities fortunate enough to be invited include David Beckham and his wife Victoria, Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish, Guy Ritchie and Joss Stone.
The singer – who famously quit the group in 1998 before they all got back together for a world tour in 2007 – thinks they should appear at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 summer games, as it will help put British music back on the map.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “The Spice Girls are part of me and always will be. If it happened and felt natural and right, then I’m always open to singing with the other girls.
“Singing at the Games is a great idea and would be an amazing opportunity – and it’s a sign the Brits are back. This is our time. Everything is circular and now there’s a British pop revival.
“It needs to put itself back on the map on a world stage. This is our opportunity to show that British music, which has led and dominated the world, should do, always.”
While the Spice Girls – also made up of Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton – are one of the acts in the frame to appear at the opening ceremony, indie band Coldplay are said to have been approached to perform an especially written anthem, ‘Welcome Song’.
Other singers considered to appear include Joss Stone, rockers Muse and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn.
Morrissey has labelled the British Royal Family “benefit scroungers” ahead of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding on Friday (29.04.11). While the ceremony at London’s Westminster Abbey will be attended by 1,900 guests and is expected to be watched by a worldwide audience of two billion, the former Smiths singer won’t be among the viewers as he believes Queen Elizabeth and her family don’t “serve any purpose”.
The ‘Queen Is Dead’ singer – who is famously against the UK monarchy – said: “Why would I watch the wedding? Why would I watch it? I couldn’t take any of that seriously.
“I don’t think the so-called royal family speak for England now and I don’t think England needs them. I do seriously believe that they are benefit scroungers and nothing else. I don’t believe they serve any purpose whatsoever.”
Morrissey – real name Steven Patrick Morrissey – also claimed his view is shared by many of his countrymen and says he won’t be the only person not celebrating when Kate and William tie the knot.
In an interview on station BBC – Radio 5 Live, he added: “Go out now and speak to people on the street and they will laugh at you. They really will.”
While the 51-year-old singer won’t be watching the nuptials, a number of celebrities have been invited including Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish, David Beckham and his wife Victoria, Guy Ritchie, Joss Stone and comic actor Rowan Atkinson.
