Jennifer Hudson is ‘constantly’ surprised by her son

The 29-year-old singer-and-actress ‘ who has 23-month-old David Jr. with fiancé David Otunga – says the youngster is already showing signs of following in her footsteps and claims he has more ‘presence’ than any child she has ever met.

She said: ‘He’s very much his own person, a little performer who loves to sing and dance.

‘He’s so charming, too. Yes, I’m biased, but I’ve never seen a child with such presence. He says ‘hi’ or ‘bye bye’ to everyone when he comes in or out of a room, and goes round blowing kisses to everyone.

‘My phone is completely backed up from videoing everything he does, because he surprises me constantly.

‘When I found out I was pregnant and went for the scan, he was so very little. To have that memory fresh in my mind and yet to now have this boy with me, dancing and laughing.’

Jennifer ‘ whose mother, brother and nephew were tragically murdered in October 2008 – sees a lot of herself in her son and admits they share similar rituals to those she had with her own mum when she was a child.

She explained to You magazine: ‘When I was little I used to itch at night, so my mom would scratch me and he’s just the same. It’s our little ritual. Every night he goes, ‘Itch! Itch!’.

‘t’s like seeing myself all over again.’

Jennifer Aniston Blasted For Using “Offensive And Inappropriate” R-Word. Jennifer Aniston is under fire for referring herself as a “retard” during an appearance on “Live with Regis and Kelly.” Her comment caused outrage from different social groups, saying it was “extraordinarily offensive and inappropriate.” Aniston was discussing recently dressing up as Barbra Streisand of Harper’s Bazaar in the show when she referred to herself as a retard. She replied to Regis, “Yes, I play dress up! I do it for a living, like a retard!” Although the studio audience laughed at the 41-year-old actress’ self-deprecating thought, Peter  Berns, CEO of The Arc, a non-profit advocate for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, wasn’t laughing with her. He told our source, “Frankly, someone in her position ought to know better. She is using language that is offensive to a large segment of the population in this country.” “Every time folks hear that word, it kind of reminds them of all the discrimination and oppression they’ve experienced in their lives. Even if it wasn’t intended to insult them, that is the effect of it.”  Special Olympics spokeswoman Kirsten Seckler also told our source, “Sadly, people use the word pervasively even if they don’t realize it. People with intellectual disabilities have fought their whole lives for understanding and recognition. When people continue to use the R word, it’s hurtful.” She added that stars should use the word “ridiculous” instead, “Think before you speak especially when you’re making fun of yourself or others.” Aniston isn’t the only celeb blasted for using the offensive word. Howard Stern, Lindsay Lohan, and Rush Limbaugh also took heat for using the term

Jackson kids accept award at Grammys. Michael Jackson’s eldest two children accepted a lifetime achievement award on behalf of their late father at last night’s Grammys (31.01.10). Prince Michael, 12, and 11-year-old Paris received a standing ovation as they took to the stage at Los Angeles’ Staples Center – where their dad’s public memorial was held last July – to collect the honour and then paid an emotional tribute to him.

Prince said: “We are proud to be here to accept this award on behalf of our father, Michael Jackson.

“First of all, we’d like to thank God for watching over us for these past seven months, and our grandma and grandpa for their love and support. We would also like the fans. Our father loved you so much because you were always there for him.

“Our father was always concerned about the planet and humanity. Through all his hard work and dedication, he has helped many charities and donated to all of them. Through all his songs, his message was simple – love.”

A musical tribute was also paid to the legendary ‘Thriller’ singer, in which stars – including Celine Dion, Usher, Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson – sang one of his biggest hits ‘Earth Song’, accompanied by a 3-D mini-film which was created by Jackson as part of his planned ‘This Is It’ tour.

The big winner on the night was Beyonce Knowles, who scooped six honours – a record for a female artist – including Song of the Year for ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)’ and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for ‘Halo’.

When accepting that trophy, Beyonce – who is married to rapper Jay-Z – told the star-studded audience: “This has been such an amazing night for me and I’d like to thank the Grammys.

“I’d like to thank my family including my husband, I love you.”

However, she was beaten to the coveted Album of the Year by country singer Taylor Swift, who has honoured for her LP ‘Fearless’, as well as winning a further three awards.

The Black Eyed Peas, Jay-Z and Kings of Leon – whose hit ‘Use Somebody’ was named Record of the Year – all picked up three trophies each, while Lady Gaga and Eminem won two.

Michael Jackson’s children could perform at the Grammy Awards.  Katherine Jackson – who is now the legal guardian of Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael II, seven – is reportedly in talks with organisers about whether the kids could sing one of their father’s songs at the ceremony at Los Angeles’ Staples Centre on Sunday night (31.01.10).

A source said: “Michael first unveiled his legendary moonwalk at the Grammys, so it’s only right they all go out with a tribute.”

The tribute, which is set to include the premiere of the ‘Earth Song’ mini-movie, will feature performances from stars including Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion and Smokey Robinson.

Singer Keri Hilson – who is up for two awards, Best New Artist and Best Rap/Song – can’t wait for the ceremony and the Michael Jackson tribute, but has no idea what to wear.

She said: ‘I guess my aim would be to stand out. I want it to be kind of the humble approach of being at the Grammys for the first time, first album. So I want that, something great but not something like, ‘I’m here. I’ve arrived.’ ‘

Jackson memorial performers announced as LA braces

jackson-memorial-performersThe stage was set Monday for Michael Jackson’s final act as the world capital of make-believe braced for what could be the biggest, most spectacular celebrity send-off of all time.  Ecstatic fans who won the lottery for seats at Tuesday’s memorial received the tickets and spangly wristbands that will get them into the 20,000-seat Staples Center downtown. The family announced the participants will include Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Usher, Lionel Richie, Kobe Bryant, Jennifer Hudson, John Mayer and Martin Luther King III.  As night fell, activity was spotted at the Forest Lawn Cemetery involving the Jackson family. The cemetery is the location where relatives were expected to hold a private funeral. La Toya Jackson, wearing sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat, was seen leaving the cemetery. KCAL-TV showed helicopter footage of a hearse backing up to the Hall of Liberty — a circular building at the cemetery that contains a 1,200 seat auditorium — to deliver a casket.  A few hours later, the casket was reloaded into the hearse and delivered to another nearby building, this time covered in a blue cloth.  The legal maneuvering that marked Jackson’s extraordinary and troubled life also continued on Monday, with his mother losing a bid to control his enormous but tangled estate. And in one of the few reminders of Jackson’s darkest hours, a New York congressman branded Jackson a “pervert” undeserving of so much attention.  More than 1.6 million people registered for free tickets to the 10 a.m. memorial, which will be broadcast live worldwide. A total of 8,750 people were chosen to receive two tickets each. The lucky ones picked up their passes Monday at Dodger Stadium amid heavy police presence.  “I got the golden ticket!” one fan screamed out of his car window in a Willy Wonka moment as he drove out of the parking lot.  “My mother loves Elvis. This is my Elvis,” said ticket winner Mynor Garcia, 29.  Downtown hotels were quickly filling. Police, trying to avoid a mob scene, warned those without tickets to stay away because they would not be able to get close to the Staples Center.  British Airways reported a surge of bookings as soon as the memorial arrangements were announced. Virgin’s trans-Atlantic flights to San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles were all packed with fans and VIPs, spokesman Paul Charles said.  “I think this is America’s version of Princess Diana. People want to be in the vicinity. People from the UK and elsewhere want to share their emotions together,” Charles said.  About 50 theaters across the country, from Los Angeles to Topeka, Kan., to Washington, D.C., were planning to broadcast the memorial live, said Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. spokeswoman Suzanne Moore. Admission will be free — first-come, first-served. Jackson’s friend Elizabeth Taylor will be mourning in private. She said on her Twitter feed Monday that she would not attend the memorial.  “I just don’t believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others,” she tweeted. “How I feel is between us. Not a public event.”  In Los Angeles Superior Court, meanwhile, a judge appointed Jackson’s longtime attorney and a family friend as administrators of his estate over the objections of his mother, Katherine. Attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain had been designated in Jackson’s 2002 will as the people he wanted to oversee his empire.  Mrs. Jackson’s attorneys expressed concerns about McClain and Branca’s financial leadership.  “Frankly, Mrs. Jackson has concerns about handing over the keys to the kingdom,” said one of her attorneys, John E. Schreiber.  Another one of her attorneys, Burt Levitch, told Judge Mitchell Beckloff that Branca had previously been removed from financial positions of authority by Jackson. Branca’s attorney said he was rehired by Jackson on June 17, days before Jackson’s death.  Branca and McClain will have to post a $1 million bond on the estate, and their authority will expire Aug. 3, when another hearing will be held.  “Mr. Branca and Mr. McClain for the next month are at the helm of the ship,” the judge said. Jackson died at age 50 with hundreds of millions in debts. But a court filing estimates his estate is worth more than 500 million. His assets are destined for a trust, with his three children, his mother and charities as beneficiaries. On eBay, bids for memorial tickets were reaching as high as $3,000, and prices on Craigslist were in the thousands, although both sites were removing postings attempting to sell memorial tickets.  Debbie Rowe, Jackson’s ex-wife and the mother of Jackson’s two oldest children, had planned to attend the memorial but backed out Monday.  “The onslaught of media attention has made it clear her attendance would be an unnecessary distraction to an event that should focus exclusively on Michael’s legacy,” her attorney Marta Almli said in a statement. “Debbie will continue to celebrate Michael’s memory privately.”  In New York, Republican Rep. Peter King released a YouTube video calling Jackson, who was acquitted of child molestation charges, a “pervert” and a “low-life.”  But the memories of Jackson’s problems were far from the minds of fans preparing to say goodbye.  “It’s the passing of a great soul,” said Matt Tyson, 31, of Ojai, Calif. “He brought people together, helped express something that’s in us all.” In a symbolic convergence of events, however, the circus will be there.  Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey starts a run at Staples Center on Wednesday. In the predawn hours before Jackson’s memorial, the elephants will walk from the train station to the arena.
