The first never-before-heard music from Michael Jackson is set to be released in November. 10 unreleased tracks from Jackson are set to become his first album of new material in nearly ten years. A rep for the Jackson estate told Rolling Stone about the plans for the album, which would be considered his first new collection since 2001’s “Invincible.” The material will be compromised of the tracks left behind by Jackson after his death, which is estimated to be over 100. Among the material being considered for the album are tracks produced by Rodney Jerkins, with who he collaborated with on “Invincible,” as well as Akon, and will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas.Among the leftover material are tracks from as far back as his “Thriller” and “Bad” days. “Every time that [Jackson] recorded, he over-recorded,” former Sony Music CEO Tony Mottola told Rolling Stone last year. “He would record anywhere from 20 to 30 songs for each album. Any of them could have been as big a hit as the ones that came out.”More recently, Jerkins revealed that he is working on the upcoming project. “You got to do a lot of the red tape but there’s definitely going to be an unreleased Michael Jackson [album],” he said in a chat with VladTV. “There’s definitely going to be stuff to come and hopefully I’ll be a part of that.”The album of new Jackson music is only the first in a deal inked between the Michael Jackson Estate and Sony Music back in March. Also set to come from Jackson are more new material, reissues of classic albums, greatest hits compilations, and a DVD of music videos. Also expected at the end of the year is a Michael Jackson video game, while a Cirque du Soleil production inspired by his life and music will debut next year.
Pamela Anderson Calls Janet Jackson Greedy For Advocating Fur. Outspoken animal rights activist Pamela Anderson thinks Janet Jackson is greedy. The former “Baywatch” star lashes out at the music icon for signing on to be a fur company’s newest model. Jackson was recently announced as the newest face of its decades-old campaign “What Becomes a Legend Most?” The black-and-white ad features the multi-award-winning actress/singer wearing a black fur coat. Not only did People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals react harshly to her new role, PETA’s most active celebrity member is also speaking out against Jackson. Anderson told our source, “It’s disappointing. She has spoken out against fur before. I don’t know why some people stop listening to their heart. I guess some people get greedy, but it’s sad.” PETA berated Jackson for embracing fur when she had previously shunned it. Senior VP Dan Matthews wrote to Jackson in a letter acquired by Black Voices: “You told me that you were always aggravated at photo shoots when stylists would try to throw fur on you and that you were even wary of wearing fake fur out of concern that it might actually be real or look real in photos and send the wrong message.” “You were very straightforward and sensible about it. What happened?”
Super Bowl Commercials Offer Laughs And Disappointments. Every year, we all tune into the Super Bowl, not just for the awesome football or curiosity of the halftime performances (remember Janet Jackson?), but also to see what commercials have been whipped up for our enjoyment. This year’s ads, as usual, offered a variety of laughs and disappointments, while some just left us shaking our heads. Some of the funniest commercials were by far the Snickers and Doritos commercials. So far, the Snickers’ commercial seems to be getting the highest reviews. Funnywoman Betty White is drawing laughs from fans all over the world, continuing to show that White can keep us entertained while poking fun at the male half. In the commercial, White is shown being tackled in during a backyard football game, with Abe Vigoda closing the ad with a funny appearance. Doritos kept us laughing with a little kid slapping his mother’s potential boyfriend, telling him, “Keep your hands off my mama and keep your hands off my Doritos.” The Doritos loving/wielding maniac also brought some laughs. In general, the brand definitely seemed to hit the mark with viewers. Some people loved the Letterman/CBS ad featuring the trio of Letterman, Oprah and Leno, but others weren’t impressed. Most outlets are ranking it in the top 5 and the network went through some extreme measures to keep the ad a secret. Leno snuck into film the commercial on Tuesday night in the Ed Sullivan Theater in dark glasses and donning a fake mustache, while Oprah was smuggled in mainly unnoticed. What about the hype for the whole “anti-abortion” Tebow commercial? Many expected something a lot more dramatic, while most of us sat back and shook our heads. The let down for the commercial is a sure sign of Tebow’s upcoming career of let downs in the NFL. Let’s be thankful the Betty White Doritos commercial followed this extremely lame ad. From Coca-Cola and the Simpsons, the good old Clydesdales and always funny Monster and CareerBuilder ads, everyone has a favorite and we’re sure to see more repeats in the upcoming months. What was your favorite?
Janet Jackson has a crush on Chace Crawford. The ‘All For You’ singer is a huge fan of the 24-year-old ‘Gossip Girl’ hunk, and was thrilled when she recently got to meet him. The 43-year-old star said: ‘I love ‘Gossip Girl’. I love the whole cast. And it’s so weird because I ended up meeting Chace Crawford. He’s beautiful. And the thing about it is, in person he’s even more beautiful. When you see him on the screen, he’s really good looking, but then you meet him in person. ‘We met at a bar, someone brought him over. It was after I did the tribute to my brother Michael at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). We talked for a minute.’ As well as Chace, Janet is also a huge fan of fellow singer Alicia Keys because she’s so grounded and unaffected by fame. She said: ‘I adore Alicia Keys. She’s one person I met from the very beginning and she hasn’t changed, and you don’t find that. She’s incredibly talented but her soul is such an amazing soul, such an amazing spirit, and you feel that immediately when you’re with her, and she hasn’t changed a bit and that’s what I love about her. I enjoy her.’
