The Saturdays top stellar line-up for children’s charity birthday celebrations. The full line up of acts and sponsors for the first birthday celebrations for children’s charity The Transformation Trust in July is now finalised, with big name supporters from the world of music and sport, and sponsors from the media and the private sector, joining forces to make it an event to remember. Up to 14,000 young people from across England are invited to attend the free birthday concert, supported by British Gas, at The O2 arena – with around 9,000 tickets already snapped up by schools from Newcastle in the north to Southampton in the south. The Trust has already raised in excess of £2 million to support projects which give young people access to opportunities and experiences that will help develop new skills, grow in confidence, learn to work as a team, and discover hidden talents. Schools can choose from a range of extra-curricular activities, giving pupils in state schools access to the kinds of activities usually only available in the independent sector. The acts confirmed for the end-of-term celebration, hosted by Rickie, Melvin and Charlie from Kiss 100 Breakfast Show, include:
Chart-topping rapper Tinchy Stryder
Stacey Solomon (X Factor finalist) who will lead The O2 in a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ to the Trust
DJ and rapper Ironik
New boyband The Wanted
Singer-songwriter Eliza Doolittle
Street dance crews Status and Unity.
The event will also see five-time Olympic gold medalist Sir Steve Redgrave present the prizes to the winners of the national Young Designer and Young Filmmaker of the Year competitions, judged by Oscar winner David Puttnam.
Today the MOBO Awards are delighted to announce, ahead of their 14th annual ceremony on the 30TH September, that the ‘BEMOBO’ Award will be presented to War Child.
