Live Nation (MCD in Belfast) is proud to welcome rock legends IRON MAIDEN back to the UK in 2011 for an extensive 10 city arena tour for the final run of dates on their FINAL FRONTIER WORLD TOUR 2010/11. For the first time in many years, the band will be playing shows across the full length and breadth of the UK, including places they’ve not visited for up to three decades!Maiden founder member Steve Harris comments; ‘Everything in the Maiden camp has been so full on these last five years or so that we haven’t travelled around the UK to play for our home fans for almost that long. These fans supported us by coming to Twickenham Stadium, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Download and more recently Sonisphere so we thought we should get off our backsides and do the travelling this time and get round the country to see them all. We very much look forward to playing all four home countries and a couple of places we haven’t been for a very long time, Aberdeen and Belfast! And playing the O2 gets us as close to the East End of London where Maiden started off than we have been for many a year, probably since the Ruskin Arms! All in all l think this is going to be a very special series of shows and a wonderful way to end this whole world tour. ‘We intend to take the full stadium show into the UK arenas and fit everything we possibly can into each venue. The set list will be different to this year’s tour. Of course we will play more songs from the new album and some other recent material, but we intend to include a healthy dose of older fan favourites too for those who haven’t seen us before , plus a spectacular light show and stage set, not forgetting, of course, ..Eddie!’ The UK shows will be the culmination of The Final Frontier World Tour, which began in June 2010 with a hugely successful 25 date tour throughout North America, followed by selected European stadium and festival shows, including Knebworth, Sonisphere in the UK.  The band recently announced the first leg of the 2011 tour which starts in February and will be ‘Around The World In 66 Days’ ‘ a fifty thousand mile odyssey aboard a specially customized Boeing 757 – Ed Force One, piloted by airline captain and lead singer Bruce Dickinson. This will carry band, crew and many tons of equipment across 5 continents to thirteen countries, visiting 26 cities for 29 shows.

System Of A Down to reunite for special gig.

System Of A Down to reunite for special gig. It looks like System Of A Down are planning a show for the first time in five years. The Gibson guitars site has posted a news item quoting a French radio blog that claims the band will play in Paris in June next year.  He merely wrote ‘System of a Down, Paris Bercy, 6 juin 2011. Tout est dans le titre’ which the Gibson item translates to ‘System of a Down, Paris Bercy, June 6, 2011. Everything is in the title.’ Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy is an event arena that is soon to host shows from Lady Gaga, Sade, Justin Bieber and Iron Maiden, but hasn’t got any dates for System Of A Down yet. System Of A Down’s site has no news apart from items about singer Serj Tankian’s solo album, which has been the majority of the action from the band since August 2006.

Iron Maiden ‘The Final Frontier’

Iron Maiden 'The Final Frontier'

Iron Maiden 'The Final Frontier'

Iron Maiden ‘The Final Frontier’ . Friday the 13th is an appropriate time for Iron Maiden to drop new music. Expect the new album on August 13. ‘The Final Frontier’ is the name of the record. It was recorded wit Kevin Shirley at Compass Studios in Nassau earlier this year. ‘The studio had the same vibe and it was EXACTLY as it had been in 1983, NOTHING had changed! Even down to the broken shutter in the corner…same carpet….everything… It was really quite spooky. But we felt very relaxed in such a familiar and well-trodden environment and I think this shows in the playing and the atmosphere of the album,’ singer Bruce Dickinson said in a statement. Iron Maiden also recorded ‘Piece of Mind’ (1983), ‘Powerslave’ (1984) and ‘Somewhere In Time’ (1986) at Compass. ‘The Final Frontier’ is the 15th album for Iron Maiden. To preview the album, the band is giving away a free download of the track ‘El Dorado’ at their website. ”El Dorado’ is a preview of the forthcoming studio album,’ Bruce said. ‘As we will be including it in the set of our Final Frontier World Tour (which opens in Dallas On 9th June) we thought it would be great to thank all our fans and get them into The Final Frontier mood by giving them this song up front of the tour and album release.’

The album runs for 76:35.

Former Beatle Paul McCartney reacts to plans to sell iconic London recording complex

Paul McCartney: 'I hope Abbey Road studios can be saved'

Paul McCartney: 'I hope Abbey Road studios can be saved'

Paul McCartney has said he hopes Abbey Road studios in London can be saved, after record label EMI announced plans to sell it.  The iconic studios, where The Beatles recorded much of their output (immortalising it on their 1969 album ‘Abbey Road’), looks set to be sold to raise money for EMI in a bid to help clear the company’s debts. However, McCartney told BBC Newsnight that he was aware of a joint “bid” from people associated with the studio, and added that he hoped they would be able to save it.   “I do know that there are a few people who have been associated with the studio for a long time who were talking about mounting some bid to save it,” McCartney explained.  He added, “I sympathise with them. I hope they can do something, it would be great. Obviously I’ve got so many memories there with The Beatles and it still is a great studio. So it would be lovely for someone to get a thing together to save it.”  EMI, which is owned by private equity company terra firma, is reportedly hoping to raise £30 million from the sale to clear huge debts.

Recording Artists at this studio fromm  2000:

Elliott Smith recorded 3 tracks, including “In the Lost and Found (Honky Bach) /The Roost”, from his Figure 8 album at the studio.
March & April 2004 Beatles master their DVD in studio 3. Fanzine records Roundabout, Phil Marshall records ‘…dondonis’ both in studio 2 with indie producer David Percefull.
2005 Steven Curtis Chapman The Abbey Road Sessions The album features versions of classic Chapman songs recorded at the historic Abbey Road Studios. It also includes 60 minutes of documentary footage focusing on the first 10 years of Chapman’s career.
Spring of 2005 Linda Eder recorded the orchestrations for her Judy Garland tribute album, “By Myself, The Songs of Judy Garland”. Phil Marshall records ‘Providence?’ in studio 2 with indie producer David Percefull.
Late 2005 Kanye West had a live concert in the Abbey Road Studios, following the release of Late Orchestration – the live album version of Late Registration. Featured on the cover is his mascot, Drop Out Bear, on Abbey Road street (another imitation of The Beatles cover).
September 2006: U2 began recording their new album with Greg Fidelman and Rick Rubin at Abbey Road Studios. [1], during which time they recorded a cover of The Skids’ “The Saints Are Coming” with Green Day to commemorate the reopening of the Louisiana Superdome which was damaged following Hurricane Katrina.
Late 2006 and early 2007 Channel 4 broadcast a program called Live from Abbey Road on More4 on Fridays 12 Jan to 30 March 2007 (with repeats the Mondays after on Channel 4). Artists to appear on the show ranged from singer Corinne Bailey Rae to heavy metal band Iron Maiden.
The Italian Soprano, Giorgia Fumanti, recorded several tracks from her pop-classical crossover release “From My Heart”, in the studios as well, evidently part a large trend for classical and symphony artists to make use of the famed studios for albums and film soundtracks.
2006: Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour recorded some of the tracks for his solo album On an Island.
September 2006 and spring 2007: Nightwish recorded parts of Dark Passion Play.
2007: Oasis records Dig Out Your Soul.
June 2007: Mike Oldfield recorded his first classical album, Music of the Spheres.
January 2008: Kutless records parts for their new album, To Know That You’re Alive
January 2008: Running To Catch – Steve Wilson and his Band
January 2008: Panic at the Disco records and mixes new album, Pretty. Odd..[2] July 2009: Diana Yukawa violinist records new solo album with a difference (working title).
[edit] 2010-
January 2010: Never Shout Never records his first full-lengnth album, What Is Love?.
