Paltrow and Martin buy ‘spectacular’ mansion

Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Chris Martin have bought a ‘spectacular’ new property in Los Angeles, it has been reported.

The couple are believed to have splashed out close to the $10,450,000 asking price for the six-bedroom mansion, which is situated on the west side of the city.

The beautiful house has been designed by famed architect Windsor Smith and is set in spacious grounds surrounded by Sycamore trees, boasting a guesthouse and stables.

‘Gwyneth Paltrow is in escrow on one of the most spectacular estates on the west side of L.A. and it”s costing her and hubby Chris Martin a pretty penny,’ TMZ reports. ‘The house – courtesy of famed architect Windsor Smith – was listed for $10,450,000. We”re told Gwyneth and Chris paid close to the asking price. The house has six bedrooms and eight baths, which means their two kids will probably each get their own rooms.’

The luxury white abode features a pale grey slate roof and a grand gated entrance. The inside is light and airy thanks to the many floor-to-ceiling windows and beautiful wooden floors.

Built in 2011, the property was originally listed at close to $12million but has recently been reduced.

The actress owns a YUBZ Retro Handset which she attaches to her BlackBerry rather than hold the handset to her ear.

In an interview with Elle Decor magazine in which she lists the things she can’t live without, Gwyneth said: “A handset cuts down on cell phone radiation. I use this one (the YUBZ Retro Handset) for my BlackBerry calls.”

Gwyneth has also revealed some of the unique features of the London townhouse she shares with her husband Chris Martin and their two children, Apple, seven, and five-year-old Moses.

The ‘Iron Man’ star has a stylish Antonio Lupi Baia bathtub situated right in the centre of her and Chris’ bedroom which she loves to unwind in.

She said: “The tub is in the middle of my bedroom – perfect for a relaxing wind-down and for bathing the kids.”

Gwyneth, 38, also has a “Juxtaposed: Religion Shelf” containing several holy tomes which compliment her collection of clothbound Penguin Classic books.

She said: “My Juxtaposed: Religion Shelf has built-in slots which hold holy books – including the Qur’an, Bible, and Tao Te Ching – all at the same level (which is how I like to think about religion).

“I have gorgeous (clothbound) editions of Penguin Classics that make the books so tempting to pick up, again and again. The ultimate cure for sore muscles.”

Gwyneth Paltrow knows every word to classic rap track ‘F**k Tha Police’

The Oscar-winning actress – who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin – has revealed she is a huge fan of hip-hop music and her favourite group of all time is N.W.A.

And she can rap every lyric to the controversial song, which was released in 1988 and was an alleged violence condoning protest song aimed at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

In an interview with her friend Jay-Z posted on his new website lifeandtimes.com, she revealed: “I first was exposed to hip-hop when I was about 16 (1988) by some boys who went to collegiate. The Beastie Boys were sort of the way in for us preppie kids. We were into Public Enemy, Run-DMC and LL Cool J. But then I went to Los Angeles the summer between my junior and senior year of high school and I discovered N.W.A which became my obsession … It was an accident that I learned every word of ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and to love something that a) I had no real understanding of in terms of the culture that it was emanating from and b) to love something that my parents literally could not grasp. But I was hooked. I can’t remember what I ate for dinner last night but I could sing to you every single word of N.W.A’s ‘F**k Tha Police’. Go figure.”

‘Straight Outta Compton’ was the album released by N.W.A – whose original line-up featured Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren, Arabian Prince and DJ Yella – which contained the song in its tracklisting.

As well as her love of gangsta rap, Gwyneth – who recently unveiled her own vocal talents in the movie ‘Country Strong’ and on TV show ‘Glee’ – also revealed she is a massive fan of Nirvana.

When quizzed by hip-hop mogul Jay on her other musical tastes, she said: “I was never super into ’80s or ’90s pop. Aside from the hip-hop I loved, I was very into alternative stuff like New Order and The Cure and bands like Yaz and Book of Love. But when Nirvana came out, my mind was kind of blown. I remember sitting around a record player playing ‘Nevermind’ for days in a row with my college friends really mesmerised by that record, as everybody was at the time. I couldn’t believe my ears.”

The ‘Country Strong’ star works out almost every day to stay in shape, and when she first started getting serious about exercise and healthy eating her trainer Tracy Anderson told she needed to change her ‘square’ derriere.

Revealing her problem, Gwyneth told the new issue of Self magazine: ‘My butt! My butt, butt, butt. When Tracy met me, she said that I had a long, square butt that she was going to redesign, and I was like, ‘Yeah? Good luck.’ The amazing thing is, she was right! And it’s still changing!’

The 38-year-old actress ‘ who has children Apple, six, and Moses, five, with her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin ‘ insists the secret to staying slim is finding a fitness and diet regime that works for you and can be maintained.

And Gwyneth is adamant it’s important to allow yourself occasional indulgences otherwise you get bored.

The Oscar winner ‘ who has just released her own cookbook ‘My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness’ – explained: ‘ do 45 minutes of cardio five days a week, because I like to eat. I also try for 45 minutes of muscular structure work, which is toning, realigning and lengthening. If I’m prepping for something or I’ve been eating a lot of pie, I do two hours a day, six days a week for two weeks.

‘ say I always eat right, but the other night I had fried clams, pasta with duck sausage and two glasses of red wine. When I want to lose, I eat less pasta, bread and potatoes.’

Coldplay book reveals Gwyneth Paltrow thinks English men are too apologetic.

Coldplay roadie Matt McGinn has revealed the 38-year-old actress ‘ who is married to the band’s frontman Chris Martin ‘ was surprised when he said sorry to her after making a joke about her then-boyfriend.

In an extract from his new book ‘Roadie: My Life on the Road with Coldplay’, he revealed: “Gwyneth asked me, ‘Are you the Matt that plays guitar on ‘Yellow’? Wow, I thought. A proper actress has heard of me. ‘Yeah, that’s right’. ‘Well, it sounds great!’ Bless her. I was lost for a moment, so ‘ for better or worse ‘ I decided to act cocky, since the only alternative would have been to go bright red.

“It was a big gamble, but I went with, ‘Cheers. So, do you think I play it better than your boyfriend?’ It hit the spot; she laughed. ‘Afterwards I felt a bit guilty for throwing a nice compliment back in her face, and said sorry a few days later; but she brushed it off and asked, ‘Why are English guys always apologising?’ ‘

Matt has nothing but praise for Gwyneth ‘ who now has two children, Apple, six, and Moses, four, with Chris – and says the Oscar-winning star is “just a normal girl”.

He added: “Obviously, when I got home and saw my pals again for a pint, one of the first things they asked was, ‘Well then, did you meet Gwyneth? What’s she like? Yeah I did. And she’s great. She’s just a normal girl, really. Well, except for the rock star husband.”

Move over, Gwyneth Paltrow. Kathy Griffin is moving from the D-List to the short list of actors being invited to guest star on “Glee”! Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester, revealed details about her guest appearance over the weekend, saying Griffin will be heading to Lima, Ohio and playing a character you wouldn’t expect.

“She’s playing one of the judges at Regionals and I don’t want to give away what she’s playing but… it’s not at all who you’d think of,” Lynch said.

“It’s a Tea Party candidate… she’s amazing,” Jane continued. “She wears this very Sarah Palin outfit and she’s very righteous… She’s pretty amazing in it!”

That’s a surprising role for someone who takes jabs at Tea Party favorite Christine O’Donnell and former VP candidate Palin in her material.

When she’s not playing herself on her sold-out stand up shows or on her now-defunct Bravo reality show, Griffin’s gotten into character playing, guest starring on episodes of shows like “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Privileged,” and “Ugly Betty.”

Griffin will be joined by fellow guest star Loretta Devine for the new episode “Original Song,” which airs March 15th on Fox.

Sir Mick Jagger is to perform at the Grammys for the first time. The Rolling Stones frontman is to take to the stage at the 53rd Grammy Awards on February 13 as part of a special tribute to soul legend Solomon Burke – best-known for his hit ‘Everybody Needs Somebody to Love’ – who died in October last year at the age of 70.

Neil Portnow, president and chief executive of the Recording Academy, said: “We’re thrilled, delighted, excited and very much looking forward to Mick doing his debut on the Grammy stage.

“It’s extraordinary to many of us that the fact is, this will be the first time; he has never performed on the Grammy stage.”

The 67-year-old rocker will perform as part of the ceremony’s annual tribute, ‘In Memoriam’, to members of the music community who have passed away since the last Grammy Awards.

Mick will join the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Britney Spears – who will be opening the ceremony – and indie group Arcade Fire, all of whom have recently confirmed they will be performing at the event.

Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow is to sing alongside soul star Cee Lo Green and The Muppets for an expected edited version of Cee Lo’s mega-hit ‘F**k You’.

Gwyneth Paltrow To Return To “Glee” Next Year. Gwyneth Paltrow called guest starring on “Glee” “the best job ever.” Now the Academy Award-winner is full of glee to get her job back in 2011. Paltrow, who’s currently promoting her new drama “Country Strong,” revealed to Access Hollywood that she’ll reprise her role as beloved McKinley High sub Holly Holiday just after the holidays. There’s no confirmation on whether Paltrow already shot her upcoming guest spot or if she’ll tape it later. The episode set to air following the Super Bowl, featuring a guest spot from news anchor Katie Couric, is currently in production. “Gwyneth Paltrow is a genius,” her co-star Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester on the show, said about the star earlier this year. “Who knew that she was such a triple threat? Great dancer, great singer, obviously a great actress – I just had the best time.”  When Paltrow first appeared on the show, she sang a cover of Cee-Lo Green’s “F*** You,” and performed a mash-up of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” with “Singin’ In the Rain.” Paltrow’s “Forget You” appears on “Glee: The Music, Volume 4,” which is currently in stores and features the cast’s covers of hits from Britney Spears, Bruno Mars, and more.
