Lady Gaga Was 2010's Magazine Cover Bestseller.

Lady Gaga Was 2010′s Magazine Cover Bestseller. Lady Gaga was the past year’s safest bet for magazine editors. The Grammy Award-winning hitmaker sold the most issues of magazines in 2010, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations. The numbers, obtained by our source, did not cover the whole year, but just until November for Conde Nast magazines and October for Hearst titles. But through the end of September, it was clearly Gaga’s year on print as she sold the most issues for magazines she graced the cover on. She was Rolling Stone’s top-selling issue when she appeared on its July 8 cover in a thong with two automatic weapons. It sold 245,000 copies, nearly three times better than its 2010 average. She was also Cosmopolitan’s top seller, selling 1.7 million copies during its April issue.”The Fame” hitmaker’s September cover was the second bestseller of Vanity Fair, behind only Angelina Jolie, selling 450,000 copies, which is more than 80,000 better than its average. Elle magazine also scored its third bestseller of the year through October when they featured the singer on their January cover. Our source also reports that Rihanna was a newsstand hit. Her GQ magazine January cover became the second bestseller of the year through November, while her August Seventeen cover was the top seller through the end of October. However, the “Only Girl (In the World)” singer underperformed when her July Elle cover sold just 285,000 copies, a little below average for the magazine. Meanwhile, it was an unfortunate issue for the magazines who chose Taylor Swift to grace their cover. The country pop sweetheart gave Elle magazine its worst selling issue of the year when she appeared on its April cover. Her Glamour cover for November didn’t also work. It was the magazine’s second worst seller, while her July Marie Claire cover was the third worst for the magazine.

Mark Ronson says wearing fur is like wearing a pet dog

mark-ronson2Mark Ronson says wearing fur is like wearing a pet dog. The music producer – who was recently named the world’s best dressed man by GQ magazine – has posed with his pooch Maude for a new anti-fur advert for PETA beside the tagline “If You Wouldn’t Wear Your Dog, Please Don’t Wear Any Fur”.  The campaign was organised by Peta2, the youth arm of the animal rights group (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). PETA Europe Director Robbie LeBlanc said: “The only difference between our ‘best friends’ and animals killed for their fur is how we treat them. No one knows that better than a sharp dresser like Mark Ronson.  With all the fashionable alternatives available, there’s absolutely no excuse for wearing fur.” Ronson is the latest celebrity to oppose fur in campaigns for Peta2, following in the footsteps of Kasabian, The Courteneers and The Wombats.  Stars to have shown their support for PETA include Pamela Anderson, Sir Paul McCartney, Tommy Lee and Pink.

Zac Efron Is Getting Serious

zactieZac Efron is making the rounds to promote his new movie 17 Again, which opens in U.S. Theaters on April 17. The comedy has been breaking records abroad but expect to see more serious roles for this actor in the near future.  In the May Issue of GQ Magazine, Zac admitted he wanted to break away from his tween heartthrob image and be taken seriously as an actor.  “A guy I worked with recently told me, ‘You have to earn the right to hold a gun.’ And that completely made sense. Can you imagine me running around with a gun in a film? I noticed the second I started that the things you want to be involved with are always just out of reach. Most parts you’d want, people won’t really consider you for, because you have to earn that respect. The things people do want you for are usually not things you want to do. At one point, somebody said to me, ‘What do you wanna do? A cool crime drama? Do you wanna shoot up heroin? We’ll do anything you wanna do…the Musical.”   In 17 Again, Efron plays Mike, a high school basketball star who blows the big game and winds up thirtysomething, dejected and headed for a divorce. Then the universe intervenes, in the form of a magical janitor; Efron becomes a teenager again, goes undercover at his old high school, meddles productively with his high-school-age kids’ messed-up lives, and tries to save his marriage.

This family comedy may not be a complete departure for the actor but it is a step in the right direction. It will be interesting to see his career evolve. We are betting he gets better with age.

From the hair-do to the Elvis moves, everything about ‘The Graduate’ theme screams retro. Zac Efron was photographed by Peggy Sirota for the feature.

GQ magazine explains The Graduate reference in the introduction, “Three years ago, Zac Efron tapped into the fantasies of a generation of girls who were still wearing braces and driving with learners’ permits and became the lord of the tweenyboppers, thanks to Disney and ‘High School Musical.’ Now, at the manly age of 21 and with two major movies on the line—including Richard Linklater’s next project—he’s trying to prove he’s more than just another buffed and pretty face.”

Justin Timberlake voted America’s most stylish man

justin_timberlakeThe singer has topped GQ magazine’s list of the Ten Most Stylish Men in America for his impact on fashion and his “knack for targeting trends”.

Justin – who has his own clothing line William Rust – topped the list because of his willingness to take style risks with his use of hats, three-piece suits, skinny ties and facial hair.

The list also includes T.I. – who features on Justin’s song ‘My Love’ – Kanye West, Jason Schwartzman, hotelier Andre Balazs and photographer Alexi Lubomirski.

Despite his grand title, Justin believes British supermodel Kate Moss is the ultimate fashion icon because she “could put a barrel on and it would be some sort of statement”.

Justin – who has been dating actress Jessica Biel since early 2007 – was recently thrown a surprise party by Jessica to celebrate turning 28.

A source said: “Justin was totally blown away when he walked in. He had no idea.”
