Disturbed debut at number one in America

Disturbed debut at number one in America

Disturbed debut at number one in America. Disturbed debuting at number one in America is hardly surprising. What is surprising is that they do it with virtually no radio or television support. Disturbed is your classic online, fan base driven band. ‘Asylum’ is the 4th consecutive Disturbed album to debut at number one in America and they did it with this, their fifth album. Disturbed communicate with their fan base totally online. Radio doesn’t want to know about them but 171,000 fans thought enough to open their wallets to ‘Asylum’ last week. Sales for ‘Asylum’ where more than two to one what Katy Perry did in her second week and more than 80,000 in front of Eminem ‘Recovery’. Other debuts this week in America were Lyfe Jennings ‘I Still Believe’ at 6, Goo Goo Dolls ‘Something For The Rest Of Us’ at 7, Heart ‘Red Velvet Car’ at 10, 10 Years ‘Feeding The Wolves’ at 17 and Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses ‘Junky Star’ at 19.

Goo Goo Dolls next album `Something For The Rest Of Us` is coming in late August. Goo Goo Dolls had some production assistance from Butch Vig (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Green Day) for this record as well as Tim Palmer (U2) and John Fields (Jimmy Eat World). The album is their first since 2006.  The songs on ‘Something For The Rest Of Us’ reflect the troubled times of the last few years in the uncertainty of the economic climate. “I wanted some of the material on this album to address the disillusionment of the difficult period we live in; I wanted to give a voice to the emotional uncertainty that accompanies hard times,’ said singer Johhny Rzeznik. ‘So many people are struggling to keep it together through tough economic conditions and two wars that seem to have no end in sight. The ones who bear the brunt of these burdens are everyday people. That’s who I want to speak to.” ‘Something For The Rest Of Us’ is the ninth studio album for Goo Goo Dolls. In the United States, the band has had 13 top 10 hits

Maroon 5 recently just launched their own Twitter page

adam-levine Sometimes Plan B can put Plan A to shame. Singer/guitarist Adam Levine, guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bass player Mickey Madden and drummer Ryan Dusick would second that emotion, seeing as how their first shot at the big time got them some rave notices, but not much else. Now, their second shot, in the form of neo-soul rock outfit Maroon 5, thanks to 2 songs, “Harder To Breathe” and “This Love”, has the LA-based Maroon 5 looking like the Cinderella story for 2005. Released as a single way back in the summer of 2002, seventeen months later “Harder To Breathe” hit #4 at top 40 radio. Over 500 live shows, including opening stints for John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, Train, and Counting Crows, and now a consistent headline act in its own right, has helped to underscore a list of reasons why Maroon 5′s debut CD, Songs About Jane, had already sold more than 3,000,000 records and gotten the guys on the Tonight Show twice, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Call with Carson Daly and the Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. The next single, “This Love” was #1 at top 40, VH1 and MTV, simultaneously! It was also the first song ever to be certified as a platinum download. But perhaps we’re getting ahead of ourselves. What about Plan A?  Known as Kara’s Flowers, Levine, Carmichael and Madden were the toast of their West LA high school (Dusick, who’d known Levine since they were nine and seven, respectively, had already graduated). Here they were, 17 years old and making a CD with legendary

New Band: Cavalier

cavalierCavalier are a British rock band comprising vocalist/guitarist Tom Harries, his brother James on the keys, Guy Prall on lead guitar, Rick Brearley on bass guitar and Mark Stormont on the drums. The band was formed by four of the members who met at Durham University. Brothers Tom and James approached Rick and Mark having watched them perform in a club. By the end of the first practice session there was obvious chemistry, and the guys made an effort to get together as much as possible. Once Guy, a friend of Toms, was added to the band Cavalier was complete. The band quickly made a name for themselves around the City with their first major event being a charity festival in Exeter in 2008. The band recorded their first E.P. late 2008.

Cavalier works because of an organic and decisive approach to songwriting blended with the musicianship of people from very different disciplines – rock, funk, jazz, classical and blues. This results in powerful, beautiful and inspirational songs. Think infectious melodies, soaring guitar riffs, tinkling pianos and an outstanding rhythm section.

They draw influences from a wide-range including Coldplay, Counting Crows, Matchbox Twenty, John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Radiohead, The Fray, Jason Mraz, Dire Straits, Train, Rascal Flatts, Goo Goo Dolls, Ryan Adams, Ben Folds Five, Eric Clapton, The Eagles, Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, Pete Yorn, U2, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
