Ready To Start, the second single from Arcade Fire’s latest album The Suburbs, will be released digitally on 11th October 2010 via Sonovox. From Arcade Fire’s third studio album, the track was described by the NME as having the “urgent fractious energy of ‘Tunnels’… stately, melancholic but resolute, with an urgent rhythm and riff.” Ready to Start is a follow up to Arcade Fire’s first single We Used To Wait. The music video for which, The Wilderness Downtown, has already received over 25 million views worldwide. An interactive online only video, The Wilderness Downtown filled social networking sites twitter and facebook, again causing Arcade Fire to top Hype Machine. Billboard found Chris Milk’s interactive video, ‘an eye-popping interactive film/experience. further pushing the boundaries of the music video concept” while the Guardian called it ‘an extremely impressive use of technology’. The Suburbs went to Number 1 in the UK and the US, Canada, Portugal, Norway, Ireland and Belgium on release in August and the top 5 in Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The band will return to the UK in December for two shows in London followed by dates in Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow. Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk unite for Loveparade charity theme. Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk have collaborated on a track called ‘Remember Love’, an homage to the 21 victims and visitors of this year’s Loveparade event. All proceeds will be donated to charity. July 24th 2010 is a date the dance scene will never forget. At the Loveparade, celebrated in Duisburg, Germany, more than 500 people were injured and 21 people were killed after panic broke out due to overcrowding in the tunnel entrance of the festival terrain. The Loveparade attracted more visitors than it could handle, resulting in mass hysteria and the death of 21 young dance lovers. Organiser of the Loveparade, Rainer Schaller, declared that the event would not be held again. The dance scene, along with its DJ’s, has been in shock ever since and to help remember the spirit of the famed dance event, three world-famous DJ’s have now united to create awareness and support the victims family-members and those injured. Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk have all played various times at Loveparade, some of them in the early years, when the it was still held in its original concept, in Berlin. They joined forces to produce a track, ‘Remember Love’. The initiator of the track was Paul Oakenfold. ‘ think the Loveparade represents a big part of the essence of the dance movement’, he explains.’t's a gathering for people from all over the world to come together to share their love for electronic music. I was watching television and a newsflash came up about the Loveparade. I really felt for the people that were there. I just thought we should do something to help them. In many other music genres artists come together, like ‘Live Aid’ and after the Haïti-disaster. We should do something. So I wrote this song and contacted Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk. I asked them if they were interested, cause I thought it was a good idea to have England, Holland and Germany coming together. Us coming together to do a track and all the money goes to help people. I think this is the first time this has ever been done in the dance scene, to give back, to help people.’ Both Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren joined the project immediately. Armin van Buuren, confirms: ‘For the first time an Englishman, a German and a Dutchman teamed up and became united in the studio, creating a track that I hope people will love and treasure. Our purpose was united in the sense that we wanted to pay homage to those whose lives were lost, and to have their memories live on in the spirit of our record.’ All proceeds will be donated to the Association of Non-statutory Welfare in North Rhine-Westphalia Germany (LAG), which started an appeal to support the victims family-members and persons injured
Dozens killed during ‘mass panic’ at Germany’s Love Parade dance music event. At least 19 people were killed and up to 100 more were injured when mass panic broke out at Germany’s Love Parade. More than a million revelers had gathered in the city of Duisburg, in western Germany, for the annual techno music festival. A stampede broke out after authorities tried to stop thousands of people from entering the area where the parade was being held, our source said. Initially it was reported than ten people had been killed in the ensuing carnage – however the toll of dead rose to 15, according to reports in the German media. The horrifying incident was sparked by “mass panic by an entrance tunnel,” police director Ralf Klauck said. “Medical staff had to fight through the massive crowd to reach them,” added Kate Connolly, a British journalist who witnessed the crush. Ms Connolly said police had been careful not to tell other festivalgoers what had happened so as not to provoke any more panic – but the horrifying news soon filtered through. “The revelers started to hear from relatives and friends who were calling them on their mobiles,” she added. The Love Parade grew from a 1989 peace demonstration in Berlin into a huge outdoor celebration of club culture. About 1.5 million people attended at its peak in 1999. Since 2007 it has been held in the industrial Ruhr region of western Germany after suffering financial problems and tensions with city officials in Berlin.
Pete Doherty is in even more trouble in Germany. Doherty was arrested in Germany for smashing the back window of a car. The Babyshambles frontman was taken into custody for throwing a pint glass at a car – believed to be parked at the time – outside of the bar Trinkteufel (Drink Devil) in Berlin shortly before 7am on Saturday morning (05.12.09). According to German newspaper Bild, Pete had been thrown out of another bar a short while earlier, and upon arriving at Continue reading →
At first impression, the man no one knows as Michael Penniman seems uncharacteristically quiet. As he takes a well-earned break from rehearsing for a tour to promote one of the year’s most eagerly anticipated global releases, he seems tired and anxious, a far cry from his usual upbeat ebullience. He knows it, and he apologizes politely for his demeanor before taking a drawn-out pause to Continue reading →
On October 16, the new Epica album ‘Design Your Universe’ will be released and the first single ‘Unleashed’ can be expected at the beginning of October. But first things first: Travelling around the world and meeting other cultures; those are in short the major sources of inspiration for singer, songwriter, composer and guitarist Mark Jansen, both as a person and a musician. The latest proof of his unlimited interest in the world around him is the album The Phantom Agony, the colourful debut Continue reading →

Destine now broadcasted on RTV Channel as you can hear and see Destine obviously has a sound which relates to bands like Fall Out Boy, Paramore en Simple Plan. With such a distinctive American sound and appearance and a Sony Music record deal under its belt, it seems like only a matter of time before Destine becomes an established name in Europe. The five youngsters join forces in 2006 and release the A Dozen Dreams EP. After this, a time of intensive touring follows: in the first year 70 shows are played in the Netherlands, England, Wales, Germany, France and Belgium. Also, Destine shares the stage with bands like New Found Glory and Fall Out Boy. The large amount of shows rapidly results in a steady fan base and several songs get airplay on national radio and TV. Also, the song Last Scene of a Plane Crash gets featured as a leader tune on TV-station Comedy Central. In December 2008 Destine signs with record label Sony Music and travels to Orlando, Florida to record with producer James Paul Wisner, who worked with bands like Paramore and New Found Glory. He is impressed by the songs and is convinced that the band has the potential of achieving international success. The first result of the collaboration, single In Your Arms enters Holland’s charts in the first week of release, and soon gets frequent airplay on several national radio stations. The single has been supported by a highly rewarded video, shot near San Francisco by director Marco de la Torre. In its first weeks, the video hits several YouTube-charts. The song also gets used for a commercial on Holland’s largest TV-station. Also, Destine scores a cover at Up Magazine. In September 2009 Destine will return to the US to record with James Paul Wisner again to record the debut album that is due to be released in January 2010 on Sony Music. This summer, Destine will tour frequently in the Netherlands and abroad. One of the highlights will be Lowlands Festival, one of Holland’s eminent outdoors.
