Rihanna reportedly went on a date with Usher.

The two singers enjoyed spending time with one another at the Coachella music festival in Los Angeles last weekend and decided to see each other again in New York a few days later.

A source close to Usher said the pair have been friendly for a long time and have shared some “passionate kisses”.

They told The Sun newspaper: “They had a really good time together last weekend and wanted to see each other again somewhere private straight after. They’ve known each other for a long time but it’s always been bad timing.

“They’ve had a few long, passionate kisses. There’s definitely a spark between them.

“It would have been too obvious to go somewhere in LA and they were both going back to New York for work commitments.”

Earlier this year the ‘OMG’ hitmaker declared his musical interest in the ‘S&M’ star, revealing he wanted to record a duet with her.

He said: “Of course I’d do a track with her – hold on! We’ve been friends and our teams work together and we’ve talked about working together in the past, but it could potentially happen.

“I would love to work with her – I think she’s an incredible artist.”

Aeroplane one of the acts who will play Coachella 2010

Aeroplane Coachella 2010

Aeroplane Coachella 2010

Today’s electronic dance culture is due for a melodic transcendence from the shadowy, industrial electro that has been hammering away at the scene. As dance floors begin to buckle under such weighty beats, the Belgium-based band aptly named Aeroplane is dedicated to elevating its fans toward a higher musical space undefined by standardized genres. They reach for freedom from constraints of predictability, weaving currents of psychedelic guitars, pop keys, disco beats, catchy bass lines and melancholic waves into a singular connection of modern beat-driven music.

At the controls of Aeroplane are Stephen Fasano and Vito Deluca, a duo whose combined experience gives life and emotion to the music. Vito brings with him a producer background that pulsates the hands and heart of Aeroplane, and Stephen’s DJ roots vibrate the eyes and soul. Their unique collaboration of sound and purpose is channelling appreciation from among the biggest DJs and producers around, and the 2007 release of their first 12” entitled “Caramellas/Aeroplane” (Eskimo Recordings) has generated a jet stream of increasing momentum. Subsequent releases have kept their ring tones looping with remix requests from artists like Cobra Dukes, Das Pop, Lindström, Cut Copy, Grace Jones, MGMT, Bloc Party, and Friendly Fires. Projects like these reinforce the integration of electronic music into the omnipresent indie scene. Blends of Cosmic Nu Disco, Psychedelic, Balearic, Emo, etc. are forming a new era of musical hybrids, and explorations are officially under way. After all, machines are human too…

Florence & the Machine release new single!

Florence & the Machine release new single!

Florence & the Machine release new single ‘Hurricane Love’. Lungs became one of the biggest selling debut albums of 2009 and is now double platinum (600k+ sales) but Florence’s reign on the UK alternative pop scene continues apace into 2010. After a stint in the studio early in the year, there then follows a jaunt across the globe to Australia, Japan and back to Europe on tour in late January and February. Spring will bear witness to further American shows, the Miami Winter Music Conference, a bigger and better UK tour and back to sunny Palm Springs for Coachella at the end of April. ‘Hurricane Love’ is a passionate ode to losing someone you love and braving the powerful and confusing emotions of seeing them out with another, when your feelings for them are still very much still alive:

‘I’m going out, I’m gonna drink myself to death,
and in the crowd, I see you with someone else
I brace myself coz I know it’s gonna hurt
But I’d like to think, at least things can’t get any worse’

The video for ‘Hurricane…’ is being shot in Paris and a number of exciting mixes are in the pipeline to rival the all-conquering xx remix of current single ‘You’ve Got The Love’.

Pendulum live DVD

pendulum2One of the defining highlights of last summer’s festival circuit, Pendulum completed 2008 with a sold-out tour that saw them play to a combined audience of over 50,000 people. Now Pendulum can confirm the June 15th release of their ‘Live At Brixton Academy’ DVD that offers an irresistible monument for fans eager to relive the glorious chaos of the Pendulum live experience.  Recorded at Brixton Academy on December 4th and 5th 2008, the DVD highlights a full live set directed by Paul Caslin. Caslin was recently nominated for a Grammy in the Long Form Music Video category for his work on Rihanna’s ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ DVD release. An added feature in the shape of an eighty minute audio CD of the Brixton gigs makes for an essential purchase for Pendulum’s devoted and ever growing fan base.  ‘Live At Brixton Academy’ features scintillating performances of Pendulum’s biggest hits and killer tracks to date including ‘Showdown’, ‘Propane Nightmares’, ‘Granite’, ‘Slam’ and ‘Another Planet’. The DVD also features Pendulum’s explosive interpretation of The Prodigy’s 1994 cult hit ‘Voodoo People’ and their incendiary take on the Metallica classic ‘Master of Puppets’.  Aside from the standard DVD / CD release, ‘Live At Brixton Academy’ will be also be available as a single DVD / deluxe double CD package that will be sold exclusively through www.pendulum.com as well as an iTunes exclusive format. Further details of both the deluxe version and the iTunes format of ‘Live At Brixton’ will be announced imminently. In the UK, Pendulum’s ‘In Silico’ album debuted at #2 in the album charts, has since reached double Gold status and is fast approaching Platinum. Their single ‘Propane Nightmares’ hit the Top 10 and was nominated for a Kerrang! Award for Best Single. Backed by a number of the summer’s most memorable festival appearances, including Creamfields, Download, Reading / Leeds and T in the Park, Pendulum have become a vital live act – aptly demonstrated by how their gigs have continually moved onto bigger venues on each successive tour. Continuing support from Radio 1 included a special Pendulum documentary that ran over Christmas. Pendulum are also repeating their phenomenal success on the other side of the Atlantic. Appearances on Carson Daly and Jimmy Kimmel relived the growing demand for their live shows created by the contagious reaction to their headline tours and a set at last year’s Coachella. They were also the hot name at this year’s Miami’s Ultra Music Festival where they headlined alongside The Prodigy and Bloc Party. Now Pendulum are set to be the band of the summer. Having proven to be too big for the tents at last summer’s festivals as huge audiences flocked to catch them in action, Pendulum have been elevated to the main stage for this year’s dates at Download (where they’re due to play ahead of Marilyn Manson), V, T In The Park, Isle of Wight and Oxegen. Growing demand for the band has been rewarded with the confirmation that they will headline their first major UK festival at Global Gathering in July.

James Morrison plays largest UK date

james-morrison1James Morrison has just unveiled a tour of the biggest UK venues he’s ever played. The Arena tour will start in Cardiff on November 25th, go through Wembley on the 26th and end up at Aberdeen Arena on December 4th. The new dates follow a very successful eight months for James that has seen him sell out two UK tours, one including the Albert Hall and has now sold over a million copies of his latest album ‘Songs For You, Truths For Me’ worldwide. Songs For You, debuted at #3 when it was released on 29th September, but it was the release of ‘Broken Strings’ (a duet with Nelly Furtado) which has become his most successful single yet, that has helped make the album one of this year’s biggest UK sellers.  James, who won a Brit award in 2007 for Best British Male has just finished a tour of the US which included a set at Coachella and is currently preparing a video for his next single ‘Nothing Ever Hurt Like Love’ out on July 13th.   James’ voice has been described and praised in many different ways, by many different people, but the description that really resonates is the late Atlantic Records legend Jerry Wexler’s: ‘Above all his is a voice with its own thumbprint. Hear it once and you’ll forever recognise it.

James will be appearing at the following venues at the end of the year:

Nov 25 Cardiff Arena
Nov 27 Wembley Arena
Nov 28 Birmingham NEC
Nov 29 Manchester Evening News Arena
Dec 1st Nottingham Arena
Dec 3rd Glasgow SECC
Dec 4th Aberdeen Arena
Dec 5th Dublin O2 Arena

Morrissey walks off stage at Coachella

bombay-station-coachellaMorrissey exited stage left during his Coachella set on Friday (April 17), complaining that the smell of cooking meat from the various food stalls around the festival was “making me sick”.

The co-author of the pro-vegetarian classic ‘Meat Is Murder’ walked offstage during the Smiths song ‘Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others’ at the enormo-fest in LA last weekend.

At one point, he sneared “I smell burning flesh… and I hope it’s human.” Further complaints were followed by walk off. He returned to the stage some minutes later to finish the show, still complianing “The smell of burning animal flesh is making me sick.”

Morrissey’s set concluded with the classic ‘How Soon Is Now’, leaving another famous vegetarian, Sir Paul McCartney, to end Friday night’s proceedings.

Last summer, a rumour circulated that Mozzer’s Wireless show in Hyde Park would ban all meat-based fast food stalls, but this turned out to be untrue.

Paris Hilton really in love and really happy with Doug.

doug-reinhardtParis Hilton thinks her current boyfriend is her perfect man – because he can keep up with her globetrotting lifestyle. The hotel heiress is so smitten with ‘The Hills’ star Doug Reinhardt, she can’t bear to be apart from him so he accompanies her wherever she goes. Speaking at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in California, she said: ‘We literally flew in from London last night and went straight to a party, we totally missed Paul McCartney. “It takes a lot to keep up with me and he’s just about managing.’  Paris – who split from rocker Benji Madden last November – also gushed again about how she wants to make Doug, 23, her husband. The 27-year-old socialite said: ‘We are going to get married one day so he’ll need to keep up with me. I’m super happy right now. He’s amazing. I really want the whole romantic thing.”  Paris – who began dating Doug in February – recently denied rumours the pair are engaged, but insisted they will tie the knot in the near future.  She said: “He’s going to be my husband. We’re best friends. It’s not like we just met. We’ve known each other over the past year. I was in a relationship before and we reconnected. I’m really in love and really happy.”
