Rebels with a cause

pixie-lott2We were the first to hear the first mix of the War Child charity single – and we reckon it’s going to be massive. Pixie Lott, N-Dubz, Tinchy Stryder, VV Brown, Kid British and Chipmunk are some of the hot new talent – working collectively as the Young Soul Rebels – recording I Got Soul, due out in August.  N-Dubz star Fazer tells us: “We’re really behind the cause. We just had to get involved.”

The tunes are all present and correct, of course, but it’s the voice that hits you round the head  like a Tom & Jerry frying pan: this potent, rich and addictive voice with the depth and maturity of a soul diva combined with the vim and dexterity of a teenage pop princess, all somehow, almost impossibly, coming from the mouth of a singer so perfectly packaged that people call her Pixie – 18 years old and still buzzing from the novelty of being able to go clubbing without her older sister’s ID.

Sir Elton praises use of his song

elton_john_hiSIR ELTON JOHN has complimented DJ Ironic on sampling one of his songs. The London rapper sampled the legendary singer’s hit Tiny Dancer for his new single Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer), which also features singer Chipmunk. Speaking to the Daily Star, DJ Ironic said: “Elton actually called my manager to say he loved the track and that he was a fan of my music. “I love the old-school stuff and I’ve always been into sampling it.” The 21-year-old DJ added that Sir Elton had also suggested that the pair might work together in the future. Sir Elton told him: “It could be a possibility that the two of us do something. It would be massive. I’ve only let Tupac and Kanye West sample my stuff. That shows how high I rate Ironik.” Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer) is released on April 27.
