Red Hot Chili Peppers will follow-up their 2006 ‘Stadium Arcadium’ album in August. Drummer Chad Smith has confirmed the new album but only joked about a title saying it might be called ‘Hello, Is It Me You’re Looking For’, a reference to that cheesy old Lionel Richie ballad from the 80s.
Red Hot Chili Peppers officially started media reactivation when a promo CD was sent to American radio stations last week featuring 18 of their hits. The CD was titled ‘Road Trippin’ Though Time’. The release was to remind media of the legacy of the band since it was 5 years since their last album.
Yesterday (April 26), Rock Band announced Red Hot Chili Peppers were one of the most downloaded acts for their computer game.
Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘halfway’ through new album. Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith has spoken about the funk rock unit’s tenth studio album. Smith told our source, revealing details about their first album in almost five years.
He said that they’ll whittle down over twenty songs to assemble an album, specifying that it won’t be a double like 2006′s mammoth Stadium Arcadium. ‘We always cut a lot of songs and see which ones rise and which ones fall,’ he said, ‘that’s just how we like to work’. The band are working with uber-producer Rick Rubin, and it’ll be their first album with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who replaced the erstwhile John Frusciante. Smith spoke about how the multi-instrumentalist Klinghoffer is fitting in. He said, ‘Things are a bit different. You know, he’s a different guy. But he’s doing great. He’s got a terrific sound, he’s very musical, he’s full of ideas ‘ we’re enjoying working with him.’ He tipped that the album will be out in March 2011, saying, ‘We’re definitely hoping to have it out by next summer. It’s been a long time in coming. Smith also revealed that the band are already booked for a summer festival next year, but didn’t specify which one.
