N-Dubz Tulisa plans to launch her solo career

The singer’s band mate, Dappy, has already announced his plans for a solo album while the band take a year-long break, and Tulisa is hoping to join him, and release a record with a dance group Swedish House Mafia.

She told UK radio station Choice FM: “I’d like to make a combination of things. I want to get on a bit of dance stuff. I’d love to work with someone like Swedish House Mafia, try something different.

“I also want to do acoustic things, just work from scratch with instruments whether it be strings or piano and just real melodic music. That’s what I’d like to do. Some nice ballads as well. Because that’s what I’m about really, growing up.”

Tulisa was quick to assure that N-Dubz – completed by producer Fazer – will return and their current break is only so they can pursue other projects temporarily.

She added: “We’ll be back and we’re always a part of the N-Dubz brand and we’re not going anywhere. It’s just basically a band, doing solo projects on the side.”

“The Office” star Ed Helms set to host “Saturday Night Live” for the first time

Ed Helms

Ed Helms

Ed Helms, who’s best known for his roles in the 2009 hit comedy “The Hangover” and NBC sitcom “The Office” will be hosting “Saturday Night Live” for the first time. NBC executives have confirmed that the Atlanta-born actor will be part of the late-night television sketch show in May, while promoting the release of “The Hangover Part II,” which also stars Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis.

Helms will host a week before the show’s season finale, which will have Justin Timberlake as host and Lady Gaga as musical guest.

But before Helms takes the stage at “SNL” next month, he’ll be playing the banjo on a different stage in Hollywood with fellow banjo player and funnyman Steve Martin at the second-annual Los Angeles Bluegrass Situation.

Created by Helms, the five-day festival has attracted other celebrities like Jackson Browne, John C. Reily, Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings.

During last year’s festival kick off, Helms told AOL’s music website Spinner he knew the community needed a music festival like this.

“They’re such a great community-building event and there’s just nothing like that here in L.A.,” Helms said. “But I know that there are bluegrass fans and I know there’s kind of a community waiting to gel.”

The actor, who sometimes serves as correspondent on “The Daily Show,” added: “I just think when people are exposed to it they respond to it,” he says of bluegrass. As he also points out though, the fest isn’t just bluegrass. “The other thing is you can see from the lineup it’s not exclusively bluegrass per se. That’s sort of the umbrella and we’re proud to make that association.”

Helms will host “SNL” on May 14.

River Phoenix

River Phoenix

The cast of the eighties coming-of-age movie “Stand By Me” are back together after 25 years. The three remaining principal stars, Jerry O’Connell, Corey Feldman and Wil Wheaton, were reunited in Toluca Lake, Calif. on Thursday for the launch of the Blu-ray and DVD version of the 1986 film, reports the Daily Mail. The actors were joined by Richard Dreyfus, who narrated the film, and the director Rob Reiner. One actor who was not present was River Phoenix, who died of a drug overdose outside of a Los Angeles nightclub in 1993 at the age of 23. Now 37, O’Connell, who played the pudgy pre-teen in the film, stars in the ABC television series “The Defenders” and is married with twins to model/actress Rebecca Romijn. Feldman, 39, whose role in the film helped him to become a teen heart-throb in the 90’s, struggled with drugs and alcohol throughout his life and is now a leader for the band The Truth Movement. Wheaton, 37, who went on to become a regular on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and other sci-fi television shows and films, is married with two stepsons. The actors played best friends in the 50s-era film that set off on an adventure to find the body of a boy killed by a train. Based on the book by writer Stephen King, the film was based on a writer, narrated by Dreyfus, reflecting on his youth. The 25th anniversary edition of “Stand By Me” will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on March

The bash had a 1920s flapper theme, and Heidi Klum, always a fan of costume parties, and other guests were seen donning full flapper regalia. In addition, even though there are rumors that Penelope Cruz doesn’t want Longoria seeing her younger brother, she and Javier Bardem attended the party, too.

DJ Sky Nellor provided the music, and the birthday girl was presented with a glittery three-and-a-half foot pink and silver cake. Before the bash, Eva and her friends enjoyed a dinner at Beso Steakhouse.

Joe Jonas splits from Ashley Greene

Joe Jonas is single once more. The one-third of the tween heartthrob trio The Jonas Brothers has reportedly split from “Twilight” actress Ashley Greene. According to our source, the couple broke up weeks ago after they started dating last summer. It was said to be a “mutual and amicable” split.

The split makes Ashley, 24, one of the young beauties who used to date the 21-year-old heartbreaker. Joe famously dated Taylor Swift, Camilla Belle, and Demi Lovato.

Joe recently talked about his relationship with Ashley. In an interview with Details magazine in its April issue, he said, “[It] feels good. I think what works about it is she really puts my feelings first. She understands my busy schedule. She’ll fly out to my shows – she’s been to places in South America that I can’t even pronounce.”

Apparently, Ashley doesn’t do any of those things anymore.
