Carrie Underwood scored her first movie role in the upcoming “Soul Surfer,” and the trailer was just released, showing Underwood looking more down home like in her “Idol” days than the glammed-up country diva we all know (and love).  EW scored the first-look at the film, which tells the well-known story of Bethany Hamilton, the teenage surfer who lost her left arm in shark attack, which derails her promising surfing career before she overcomes her disability and begins surfing again.   Underwood looks believable enough playing a church youth group leader in the upcoming drama, who says stuff like “I don’t know why terrible things happen to us sometimes, but I have to believe that something good will come out of this.” Underwood’s only previous acting credit was a guest appearance on “How I Met Your Mother,” which earned her a People’s Choice Award nomination (that ultimately went to Demi Lovato). “Soul Surfer” also stars AnnaSophia Robb (better known for her Disney fare like “Race to Witch Mountain” and “Bridge to Terebithia”) as Hamilton, while Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid play her parents. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 8th.

Carrie Underwood turns to cleaning when her husband is away at hockey games. The country music star tied the knot with ice hockey player Mike Fisher last July and although she loves married life with him in Ottowa, Canada, the 27-year-old beauty admitted she often gets bored when her spouse is playing in a different city. She said: “It is hard being a hockey wife. They will go off for a few days at a time to play some road games, and I am just like sitting at home twiddling my thumbs thinking, ‘What do I do?’ “I cleaned, and we are moving into a new house, and so I was unpacking all of his stuff. And laundry and dishes.” Carrie was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Song for her track ‘There’s A Place For Us’, eventually losing out to Diane Warren with ‘You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me’ at last night’s (17.01.11) ceremony and even though Mike couldn’t make it to Los Angeles with her, she revealed he was cheering her on from home. She explained to People magazine: “Even though he’s not here with me tonight, I know he’s watching. And just to have somebody that I know is 1,000 per cent cheering me on, it’s really nice to have that kind of support.”

Carrie Underwood became vegetarian because she loves animals

Carrie Underwood became a vegetarian for her pets. The country singer grew up on a farm with lots of animals and decided when she was just 13 she didn’t want to feast on meat because she couldn’t stand the thought of the animals being killed. She said: ”m a vegetarian because I love animals. I grew up on a farm and they were all my pets! So the thought of me or someone else eating my pets kind of freaked me out at a young age.” Carrie admits she is obsessed with staying healthy because she wants to live a long and healthy life and is paranoid about damaging her body with bad food. She added to the new issue of Women’s Health magazine: ”m the most normal person in the universe, but I’m very health conscious. I love working out. I love taking care of myself. We only have one body apiece and it’s going to expire sometime, and I’m going to make sure it’s a long, long time from now.” The 27-year-old actress has twice been named the World’s Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA and is such an ardent supporter of animal rights she once said: ‘f you told me I could never sing again, I’d say that was horrible, but it’s not my life. If you told me I could never be around animals again, I would just die.”

Country Music Superstar Reba McEntire To Release New Album November 9. Country music superstar Reba McEntire is sure to continue her country music reign with her new currently untitled album rolling into stores on November 9.  The lead single from the album, titled “Turn on the Radio,” earned Billboard Hot Shot Debut status and will be available on iTunes on August 3. “I fell for the song immediately,” said Reba of her new single. “I love that it’s an up-tempo, strong woman song about a woman who has been done wrong by her lover and is telling him to turn on the radio if he wants to hear from her through their favorite song. Dann Huff and the musicians did a wonderful job bringing the heart beat out in the song. It definitely gets your attention from the very start of the song.” Reba’s last album, “Keep On Loving You,” went gold and earned the musician a slew of hits including the Top 10 “Strange” and “Consider Me Gone,” which spent 4 weeks at #1. “Consider Me Gone” also allowed Reba to join the ranks of Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Gretchen Wilson as the only female artists to log more than 3 weeks at #1 in the past ten years.
