Bloc Party release a brand new single ‘One More Chance’

bloc-party-rtBloc Party release a brand new single ‘One More Chance’ on the 10 August 2009 through Wichita Recordings.  The previously unreleased track was recorded in April with Jacknife Lee (REM) and mixed in Paris with Phillipe Zdar (Phoenix,Cassius).   In other Bloc Party news, The band are set to play the iTunes Festival at London’s Roundhouse on the 20th of July with support from Delphic and The Invisible. Tickets are free, but competition winners only and available from: and  The band will perform as second headliners on the main stage at the Reading and Leeds Festival. They play Leeds on Saturday 29 August and Reading on Sunday 30 August.  After the festivals have ended, Bloc Party will embark on their biggest UK tour to date; the month long BLOCTOBER tour.

Beverley Knight announces UK tour

beverley-knightUK soul queen Beverley Knight will be undertaking her first UK tour in 2 years this November, and has also announced a headline show in 2010 in the prestigious surroundings of London’s Royal Albert Hall.  Knight has also just completed work on her 6th studio album, entitled ’100%’ and due for release on September 14th 2009. The multi award winning star has worked with a fine array of collaborators and producers to complete a body of work that is sure to be widely acknowledged as the best album of her career so far. 100% sees triple Mobo award winning Knight working with illustrious former writing partners Guy Chambers and Jimmy Hogarth (Adele, Duffy) as well as with multi Grammy Award winning legends Jam and Lewis, and Ivor Novello winning songwriter Amanda Ghost (Beyonce, Shakira). Knight and Ghost are co-writers of the album’s first single, ‘Beautiful Night’, due for release on September 7th  September also sees the launch of Knight’s cosmetics range for dark skin: ‘K by Beverley Knight’, to be launched exclusively in Selfridges stores and rolled out to John Lewis and other stores afterwards. A new album, a cosmetics range and a UK tour in November – details to be announced very soon – 2009 is set to be Beverley Knight’s year – 100%.

Surface Unsigned launches Festival

Surface Unsigned are now accepting applications for the Surface Unsigned Festival 2009. The festival, which includes gigs in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and London, offer bands the chance to perform at industry showcases, get recording and production deals, professional photo shoots, £30K in cash and endorsements and much more. The band of the festival will receive £5,000 cash.

The Surface Unsigned Festival is the only national live music event that brings unsigned bands and artists to the attention of all aspects of the music industry. Surface Unsigned is a festival of new music held throughout the country in aid of discovering and promoting new talent.

This years there will be over 350 nights of live music involving over 1,200 bands from across the UK.

In 2010 events will be held in Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh), the Northwest (Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds), the Midlands (Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Nottingham), Avon (Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham), South Wales (Cardiff, Swansea), the Southeast (London, Reading, Brighton) and the South (Bournemouth). In 2010 there will be over 650 nights of live music involving over 2,000 bands from across the UK.

Dance act Nobody Beats The Drum tours the UK

nobody-beats-the-drum-160x160-scale-nocrop-q80For Nobody Beats The Drum, the EuroSonic Noorderslag festival 2009 in Groningen, which starts January 15th, will be the kick-off for a tour to the UK.

On Friday 16 January they will play De Puddingfabriek with Yuksek, The Subs and Fake Blood. Afterwards they will play five dates in and around England, and a date in Wales. Recently Nobody Beats The Drum caught the attention of the media with their creative video for The Drum. Especially notable, when hip hop superstar Kanye West wrote on his blog that he really loved the clip.
