Guillemots to release four albums in six months

Guillemots have never been ones to let the grass grow and sound their return this year with a leviathan task.

They’ve been in lockdown, squirreling away in the name of art for a labour of love which will last six months and which will produce a quartet of sparkling new albums, baked and served straight from the oven, no messing around.

Immersed in the solitary splendour of the Norwegian wilderness,
Fyfe Dangerfield, Magrao, Aristazabal Hawkes and Greig Stewart have taken up this self-imposed challenge with their trademark élan.

The proof is in the pudding ‘ first LP ‘Hello Land!’ ‘ an easy breezy, earthern ode to springtime featuring the Norwegian Flute Ensemble and produced by Jonas Raabe.

Experimental, orchestral, psych-tinged, balladeering tendrils wrap themselves around falsetto and sixties’ girl group melodies for a lush record which adds the first brushstroke to this forthcoming masterpiece.

As the band themselves say; ‘We hope it makes friends with your ears.’

Nelly Furtado Debuts New Songs At Concert

Nelly Furtado Debuts New Songs At Concert.  Nelly Furtado is getting ready to make her comeback to the music scene with her upcoming English language album. She surprised fans by performing two new tracks at a recent concert. Furtado headlined the Orange Warsaw Festival in Poland where she debuted the new tracks, but some fans might have already recognized them. The two songs, “Free” and “Girlfriend In the City,” had recently leaked online and are set to be featured on her new album “Lifestyle,” Furtado’s fourth English language album and fifth studio album overall. “Lifestyle” follows the release of her first Spanish language album last year, “Mi Plan.” “Lifestyle” is her first English album since 2006′s “Loose,” which yielded the #1 hits “Say It Right” and “Promiscuous.” On “Free,” Furtado aims at a pulsating dance sound on the Salaam Remi-produced track, only hinted at on previous singles like “Maneater” off “Loose.” On “Girlfriend in the City,” Furtado uses a more organic, string-based production for a song more reminiscent of her underrated “Folklore” album. For the new album, she also hooked up Timbaland, who produced most of “Loose.” She’s also rumored to be working with Ryan Tedder, who produced Beyonce’s “Halo” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone.” The album was originally set for release back in May, but is now expected to drop before year’s end.

The Beatles continue breaking records

The Beatles-rtvUnderlining their timeless appeal and unique status in music, The Beatles have broken multiple chart records around the world following the September 9, 2009 (9-9-09) CD release of their digitally re-mastered catalogue. In the major music markets of North America, Japan and the UK, consumers purchased more than 2.25 million copies of The Beatles’ re-mastered albums, individually and in two multiple-CD boxed sets, one in stereo and one in mono, during the first five days of release (excluding non-traditional retail outlets whose sales are not tracked by the chart compilers). The Beatles’ original UK studio albums were re-mastered by a dedicated team of engineers at Abbey Road Studios in London over a four year period, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result is the highest fidelity the catalogue has seen since its original release.
