Florence and the Machine to release album and single on the same day. Florence + the Machine is set to release ‘Heavy In Your Arms’ on November 15. The single is taken from Between Two Lungs, A two disc special edition of album Lungs to be released on the same day. To round off yet another exceptional year, Florence will be releasing the mighty single ‘Heavy In Your Arms’ on November 15th through Island Records. Produced by Paul Epworth the track, a favourite of recent festival headlining live sets, was recorded for the Twilight Eclipse film. Florence comments, ‘Heavy In Your Arms I suppose is about the weight of love, and how sometimes it can be a burden between two people. I felt a strong theme in the Twilight series was someone being rescued or being condemned, and is the love you carry bringing you down. I recorded it with Paul one evening, using a lot of strange reversed vocal samples and big hip hop piano. It’s basically inspired by 90′s hip hop, and gospel choirs, like most of my songs.’ ‘Heavy In your Arms’ will also be available on Between Two Lungs. A two disc special edition version of her 4 x platinum selling Brit Award winning debut album Lungs. Between Two Lungs will feature new cover art, sleeve notes by Florence and exclusive images. A 10 track second disc which, as well as ‘Heavy In Your Arms’, also includes among others, a live recording of brand new song ‘Strangeness & Charm’. The massive collaboration with Dizzee Rascal ‘You Got The Dirtee Love’ and a previously unreleased Yeasayer remix of ‘Dog Days Are Over’ and will also be available on November 15. Florence recently wowed worldwide audiences with her live performance (and victory) at this year’s MTV VMA Awards which saw her album explode in the U.S. Firing up to #2 in the I tunes chart and breaking the top #15 in the Billboard album chart. Exciting times ahead! Back home Florence has just been nominated for two Q Awards, including Best Female and Best Song. Nelly Furtado Debuts New Songs At Concert

Nelly Furtado Debuts New Songs At Concert.  Nelly Furtado is getting ready to make her comeback to the music scene with her upcoming English language album. She surprised fans by performing two new tracks at a recent concert. Furtado headlined the Orange Warsaw Festival in Poland where she debuted the new tracks, but some fans might have already recognized them. The two songs, “Free” and “Girlfriend In the City,” had recently leaked online and are set to be featured on her new album “Lifestyle,” Furtado’s fourth English language album and fifth studio album overall. “Lifestyle” follows the release of her first Spanish language album last year, “Mi Plan.” “Lifestyle” is her first English album since 2006′s “Loose,” which yielded the #1 hits “Say It Right” and “Promiscuous.” On “Free,” Furtado aims at a pulsating dance sound on the Salaam Remi-produced track, only hinted at on previous singles like “Maneater” off “Loose.” On “Girlfriend in the City,” Furtado uses a more organic, string-based production for a song more reminiscent of her underrated “Folklore” album. For the new album, she also hooked up Timbaland, who produced most of “Loose.” She’s also rumored to be working with Ryan Tedder, who produced Beyonce’s “Halo” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone.” The album was originally set for release back in May, but is now expected to drop before year’s end.

The Saturdays top stellar line-up for children’s charity birthday celebrations.  The full line up of acts and sponsors for the first birthday celebrations for children’s charity The Transformation Trust in July is now finalised, with big name supporters from the world of music and sport, and sponsors from the media and the private sector, joining forces to make it an event to remember. Up to 14,000 young people from across England are invited to attend the free birthday concert, supported by British Gas, at The O2 arena – with around 9,000 tickets already snapped up by schools from Newcastle in the north to Southampton in the south. The Trust has already raised in excess of £2 million to support projects which give young people access to opportunities and experiences that will help develop new skills, grow in confidence, learn to work as a team, and discover hidden talents. Schools can choose from a range of extra-curricular activities, giving pupils in state schools access to the kinds of activities usually only available in the independent sector. The acts confirmed for the end-of-term celebration, hosted by Rickie, Melvin and Charlie from Kiss 100 Breakfast Show, include:

The Saturdays
Chart-topping rapper Tinchy Stryder
Stacey Solomon (X Factor finalist) who will lead The O2 in a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ to the Trust
DJ and rapper Ironik
New boyband The Wanted
Singer-songwriter Eliza Doolittle
Twenty Twenty
Street dance crews Status and Unity.

The event will also see five-time Olympic gold medalist Sir Steve Redgrave present the prizes to the winners of the national Young Designer and Young Filmmaker of the Year competitions, judged by Oscar winner David Puttnam.

Scarlett Johansson has bought a house in Louisiana

Scarlett Johansson has bought a house in Louisiana . The actress and her husband Ryan Reynolds have splashed out on a modest two-storey property, which comes with spacious grounds and a number of outbuildings. The couple are said to be working on the colonial-style property at the moment, adding eco-friendly touches such as solar heating to the building and repairing damage including a rusty barn roof. Other famous faces who own property in Louisiana include Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and Sandra Bullock. Scarlett and Ryan – who married in 2008 – recently put their four-bedroom Spanish style Los Angeles property up for sale for $4.5 million. The house – which the ‘Iron Man 2’ star paid $7 million for in 2007 – was built in 1931 and has been restored to its old style, as well as updated with eco-conscious upgrades such as solar electric. The home boasts five bathrooms, a pool and spa, chef’s kitchen with retro decor, a media room and gym room. This is not the first time Scarlett has faced a loss when selling a property. In April 2008, the ‘Lost In Translation’ actress sold her Manhattan loft apartment for $1.9 million – $52,000 less than she bought it for two years earlier.

I Am Kloot are set to release their stunning fifth studio album

I Am Kloot are set to release their stunning fifth studio album, ‘Sky at Night’ on July 5th. Following 2007’s ‘I Am Kloot Play Moolah Rouge’, the album further goes to cement John Bramwell’s status as one of the most talented songwriters in the country. Proud Manchester men they may be, but the record is infused with an almost Parisian elegance. Tracks like ‘It’s Just The Night’ and ‘The Moon Is A Blind Eye’ reveal a Gainsbourg style of sophistication, but are still punctuated with their own inimitable Northern soul. Opening with the warm, rolling ‘Northern Skies’, it’s followed by ‘To The Brink’, a decadently faded show tune, with celestial strings balancing delicately against the kind of poignant musings more typically found at the bottom of a brandy glass. The theatrical instrumentation of ‘Lately’ is lush and impressive, whilst remaining explicit and honest. Renowned harpist Marie Lionheardt provides a delicate accompaniment to the moving narrative in ‘I Still Do’, while ‘Radiation’ touches upon the Beatles’ more psychedelic moments of orchestration. A songwriter’s songwriter, Bramwell is one of our finest wordsmiths and counts Pete Doherty and Elbow’s Guy Garvey amongst his many fans. Having produced their hugely acclaimed debut album ‘Natural History’ Garvey, alongside band mate Craig Potter, has returned to produce and mix this sublime ten track collection.  With ‘Sky at Night’, expect Kloot’s cult status to soar skywards. The tracklisting for ‘Sky at Night’ is:

‘Northern Skies’
‘To the Brink’
‘Fingerprints’
‘Lately’
‘I Still Do’
‘The Moon Is A Blind Eye’
‘Proof’
‘It’s Just the Night’
‘Radiation’
‘Same Shoes’

I Am Kloot is – John Bramwell (vocals/guitar), Andrew Hargreaves (drums), Peter Jobson (bass).

The Smoking Hearts release debut album

The Smoking Hearts

The Smoking Hearts

The Smoking Hearts release debut album. The Smoking Hearts will be stamping their mark on the British music scene on March 8th of 2010 with the release of debut album Pride Of Nowhere. Storming out of rural England, The Smoking Hearts unleash a whirlwind combination of relentless punk rock and cutting rock’n’roll. With Pride Of Nowhere, the band deftly call upon their arsenal of screaming vocals, ruthless guitars and thunderous beats. The resulting effect is 13 ferocious blasts that shout out loud ‘be who you want to be’. Pride Of Nowhere is a record full of anger and frustration at a world that demands conformity and mindless ritual. It tells the story of five reprobates who like to have fun, rock out, and have a good time all the time. Taking digs at the common work environment ‘we hope you all choke on your nine to five’, and former loves ‘looks like The Ritz but she’s The Bates Motel’, The Smoking Hearts also highlight their philosophies of life with lyrics like ‘We’ll raise a toast to the ones that hate us most’. Recorded on a farm in Bedfordshire with Nick Mailing (Quireboys/Trashlight Vision) and Mastered by Russ Russell (Napalm Death/The Wildhearts) over the course of just 14 days (and nights), this 13 song opus clocks in at a frantic 29 minutes and 25 seconds. Graceful is definitely not a word to describe The Smoking Hearts. Live shows have seen guitar headstocks smashed and drum kits sprawled across stages. It is not uncommon to find half the band on the floor with the crowd and, on occasion, half the crowd on stage with the band. In their short career as a band, The Smoking Hearts have travelled thousands of miles, opening shows for the likes of Gallows, Bring Me The Horizon, Winnebago Deal and The Supersuckers, as well as some iconic acts such as Misfits and Skid Row. Pride Of Nowhere is a record for many states of mind – these are songs that will inspire attitudes to party, drink, fight. But ultimately it is the anti-thesis of sitting around and letting things happen to you; it has everything to do with making life happen for yourself.
